What’s Happening this Weekend | August 19-21, 2022
1. Food Truck Friday at Capstone this Friday, August 19 from 11 am – 2:00 pm. Come enjoy a delicious lunch during Food Truck Friday at Capstone. Make sure to try the delicious Roly Guacamole Food Truck, after lunch, this is a great location with places to sit to enjoy your food and paths to walk with beautiful views of the Red Deer River.
2. The Capstone Night Market is happening again on Friday, August 19, from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. The Capstone Night Market features some of Red Deer and Central Alberta's finest Artisans, Makers, Food Trucks, Live Music, and Entertainers. Stop by and see Fostering Hope Rescue & Bob The Dog for some amazing products! There may even be some special guests again at this market! 3. Summer Outdoor Market at Gasoline Alleys Farmers Market is this Saturday, August 20 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. This summer they are expanding the market outdoors through June, July, and August. Stop by to see their new vendors.
4. The Kraay Family Farm is located just west of Lacombe, and with over 40 attractions and amenities, the family is sure to be kept busy. With a farmyard, corn maze, jumping pillow, mini golf, and more, the fun never stops at Kraay Family Farm. This year’s 2022 Corn Maze Design is Mental Health Matters. They are raising awareness about your mental health, the mental health of your loved ones, and the mental health of your neighbours and your community. Kraay Family Farm is open on Friday or Saturday and closed on Sunday.
4. The NEW Canyon Coaster is now open. Soar down the Luge track as you weave in and out of the ski slope and forest trails on the Brand-New Canyon Alpine Coaster. This Coaster reaches over 1300 meters in length with a total 440-foot vertical drop. For more details and to purchase tickets click here.
5. Check out the Ross Street Patio Performances sometime this summer, the Patio features free, live music for the Summer and early Fall season. Wednesday performances are from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, and Thursday's & Friday's 12:00 pm -1:30 pm. They proudly feature talented local musicians and bands that contribute to the amazing atmosphere you will find on the beloved Patio.
6. Ellis Bird Farm presents Warbler Walk on Saturday, August 20. Join Gaven McKinnon for a guided birding walk to learn more about the warblers that visit Ellis Bird Farm during the fall migration. Please register online. Go to www.ellisbirdfarm.ca.
7. Toad n Turtle Red Deer is having Lobsterfest on Saturday, August 20 from 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm. Grab your tickets now and enjoy a fresh flown-in 1.5 lb East Coast Lobster! 9. The Track on 2 has their Sunday Race, Post time is 1:10 pm. Enjoy the excitement and bet on the live horse racing (over 18). Attendance and parking are free, and all ages are welcome. They are family-friendly and have stick horse races, games, and other activities for the kids. They are adding Wednesday evening races on August 24, and 31. Those races start at 5:10 pm. Looking for something a bit different? Then check out the "Go for Broke" Skateboard Competition hosted by the Central Alberta Skateboard Association this Saturday, August 20th starting at 10am. Alberta's best amateur boarders from across the province will be riding the rails, getting some air and making the most of their sesh at the Glendale Skatepark. Check them out on Saturday.
