Discover a treasure trove of historic artifacts, archival materials, and innovative technology that collectively narrate the tales of ordinary people – stories brimming with vision, sacrifice, perseverance, and triumph.
Body Language: Reawakening Cultural Tattooing of the Northwest is the first exhibition to fully explore the rich history and artistry of Indigenous tattooing, piercing, and personal adornment on the Northwest Coast. This temporary exhibit, available until the end of September, proudly showcases contemporary artists who are leading the revival of Indigenous tattooing in British Columbia. These visionary artists are reclaiming traditional techniques and asserting their rights to bear traditional tattoos, while also raising awareness about the profound cultural significance and protocols surrounding the timeless traditions of tattooing.
