8 Ways to be Entertained this Weekend December 3-5, 2021

From arts to outdoors, you will be albe to find something to peak your interest. Get out of the grey and experience the colours!

Red Deer Arts Council presents First Friday. Join the galleries in downtown Red Deer in celebrating local, regional and national artistic talent. The galleries buzz with art experiences, open gallery spaces, artists in attendance, or other performances.

On Friday at 7:00 pm, come on down to Red Hart Brewing to hear songs to warm the Hart with Paeton Cameron & Stephen Scott with a special guest. The tickets are $10 at the door.

On Saturday, FSCA will be hosting a Christmas Craft Drive-Thru from 10 am to 2 pm. Pick up all the supplies for a festive craft to make at home, courtesy of Family Services of Central Alberta and The City of Red Deer (while supplies last).

Did you know it is Global Fat Bike Day this Saturday, December 4, and an excellent way to celebrate is to venture out on some of our many trails over 130kmhere in Red Deer? If you don’t want to go alone, Wheeler’s Bicycle Repair is hosting a ride starting at their location at 11:00 am and ending back at the Troubled Monk for beverages and prizes.This event is free and is open to all ages and skills.

Our Winter Markets will bring a smile to any face, so don’t forget to get out to places like Bo's Bar and Stage or perhaps Alberta Sports Hall of Fame for a little local Christmas shopping at their weekly Holiday markets. Blackfalds is hosting their Christmas market at the Abbey Centre Saturday and Sunday with a special Santa’s workshop for the little ones to enjoy shopping secretly. You can find a list of our various Holiday Markets in and around Red Deer, a great time to shop local.

Santa is back this year to meet and greet the youngsters and yes, get your photos. If you’re at Bower Place Mall, he will be hanging out at the Centre Court till the 24th, and photos will be on a walk-in basis only. You can also find him at Parkland Mall starting this Saturday; however, he will require an appointment which can be made by clicking here. Masking will be required, and please follow the Alberta Health Guidelines and rules.

On Saturday head down to Innisfail for their Hometown Christmas,a celebration of community with activities for the young and young at heart.There will be Horse Drawn Wagon rides, Outdoor Movie, crafts and so much more.
