Christmas Lights Guide 2022
Get in the holiday spirit with this guide to viewing all the amazing Christmas lights in our region. See them all, from driving tours to city hall park lights to viewing all the surrounding community's light displays, there is so much to see in Red Deer and Central Alberta this holiday season.
Christmas Driving Tours
The Christmas Light Tour compiled by AJ Elliot and his father Jim each year; is a great way to take in some of Red Deer’s most eye-catching outdoor Christmas displays. Every year they spend hours driving around the city to find the best Christmas lights and develop tours and routes.
2022 Red Deer Christmas Light Tour Route
This tour is around 6 hours 18 minutes, and 144 km long. They have split the tour into eight sections, so people have more flexibility for their route choices and schedules.
Shortened Route: 2022 Red Deer Christmas Light Tour
The Shortened Route features several of the highlights spread throughout the city. Many wonderful decorations are presented within a shorter period for those who have less time for the lights.
PARKLAND GARDEN CENTRE ICE SCULPTURES
The Parkland Garden Centre’s annual ice sculptures are now complete. This annual tradition is a must-see this holiday season. Stop in for a visit and warm up with a hot cider or coffee.
When: December 22, 2022, and through the holidays
Where: Parkland is located 3 minutes East of 30th Avenue, Red Deer on Highway 11 East.
Cost: FREE (donations to the Food Bank are gladly accepted)
LIGHT THE NIGHT ATTRACTION AT DISCOVERY WILDLIFE PARK
Light the Night at Discovery Wildlife Park in Innisfail has more than 25km of light displays! The display is estimated to be a 20-25 min drive. At the end of the display, you can stop in at the gift shop for a hot beverage.
When: Every night until January 15, 2023

Cost: $30 plus GST per vehicle
Check out the Christmas lights in Capstone. The neighbourhood will shine bright all season long with festive light displays, decorative planters, and more.

Stroll through City Hall Park to enjoy a beautiful display of lights and Christmas decorations. The lights are illuminated every day, from sunset to sunrise.

Escape into the magic winter paradise of the Winter Village! With over 300,000 twinkling and dancing lights. The Winter Village will glow nightly from December to March throughout the season. A glittery winter walk through the Winter Village is full of festive charm! Stop under an archway for the perfect twinkle light holiday photo.

Where: Pier at Lakeshore Drive and 50 Street

Enjoy the beautiful festive lights at the Lacombe Memorial Centre in the City of Lacombe. They also have a skating rink to skate beneath the lights for a little Christmas magic.

BLACKFALDS LIGHTS
Check out the Town of Blackfalds Christmas light and music displays that will play throughout the holiday season.

STETTLER LIGHT THE NIGHT
Christmas lights are strung up along a half-kilometre loop on the grounds of the Stettler Town and Country Museum. You can take in the twinkling lights from your own vehicle, on a wagon ride, or by walking.
When: Fridays and Saturdays in December, plus December 21, 22, 23, and 24 from 5:30-9:00pm.
Where: 6502-44 Avenue Stettler
Cost: Admission is by donation.
HERITAGE RANCH WINTER NIGHT LIGHTS TOUR
Experience the Winter Night lights in your private horse-drawn sleigh at Heritage Ranch. Enjoy the clean, crisp winter air, have a hot chocolate as you warm up next to a fire. Afterwards, why not enjoy the fine dining experience at the Westlake Grill.
