Check out the Top 10 things to do in Red Deer and central Alberta this weekend!  

1. Come out to support indigenous cultures at The Track on 2 this Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 at 1:00 pm. Enjoy the thrill of the Elite Indian Races, there will be an Elite Indian Relay Association Parade, O'Canada, and Relay Prayer, followed by Elite Indian Relay Association Exhibition Races and EIRA Sing/Dance display. 2. DNA Gardens is having Night-Time Bat Walk with Bat Biologist on Saturday, June 25. They are located in Red Deer County near Elnora. This fun and educational Alberta Community Bat Association biologist will give a bat talk; watch bats leave their boxes. Supper and cocktails are available for purchase. Check out their website for more information and all their events going on this summer.

3. RV Wars at Westerner Park this weekend, June 23-26. RV Wars is a major RV and camper sale with a large variety of RVs and trailers to choose from. RV Wars is the event to attend if you’re interested in buying an RV.

4. The Downtown Business Association is hosting Ross Street Patio Performances this summer. A partnership between The City of Red Deer and the Downtown Business Association, the Patio features free, live music for the Summer and early Fall season. They are proudly featuring talented local musicians and bands that contribute to the amazing atmosphere you will find on the beloved Patio. Events are free and open to the public. The Ross Street Patio is excited to have summer performances, Wednesday performances are from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, and Thursday's & Friday's 12:00 pm -1:30 pm.

5. Alberta Sports Hall of Fame presents Sports Fest on June 25, from 10:00 am – 4:30 pm. Enjoy free admission all day in collaboration with Participaction Community Better Challenge. Additionally, you can try out new sports and watch demonstrations by Central Alberta Cricket Association, Central Alberta Handball Club, Red Deer Fencing, Red Deer City Soccer Association, and Red Deer Tennis.

6. Bull Skit Comedy presents Calf Skit with its featured fairy tale Three Little Pigs on Saturday, June 25 at 10:00 am and 11:00 am. Calf Skit is a family-friendly show that takes your classic lovable fairy tales and puts a spin on them using a blend of Improv comedy and choose your own adventure stories. This is a chance for you and your family to get involved in the telling of all the classic fairy tale stories. Recommended for kids 10 and under.

7. Food Truck Friday is back at Capstone, stop by from 11:00 am- 2:00 pm. Make sure to try Roly Guacamole. This locally-owned food truck has delicious tacos, chips, and desserts. Enjoy a tasty lunch, afterward stroll along Riverwalk, or take a rest on one of the lounge chairs or benches.

8. The Lacombe & District Historical Society is excited to invite you to join us for our annual Hammer-In Festival at the Lacombe Blacksmith Shop on Sunday, June 26 at 11:00am - 4:00pm. The goal of this special event is to show off the amazing skills of Alberta Blacksmiths and fundraise for new museum collection shelving. Blindman Brewery will be on-site for the weekend, as well as an Alberta Farmers Market-approved Artisan Market. Admission is free and refreshments are available for purchase. This is a family-friendly event, don’t miss this opportunity to watch the past come alive!  

9. West Woods Birding Tour is at Ellis Bird Farm this Sunday, June 26. Join Rob Wapple on a guided birding tour through our West Woods, from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, you will walk the trail and learn more about birding. Admission is $5/person, click here to register online. Ellis Bird Farm is now open for the summer. Drop-in visitors are welcome at Ellis Bird Farm during the summer months. They invite you to stroll the trails, enjoy the beautiful gardens, see the world's largest outdoor collection of bluebird nestboxes, take a tour out to our bluebird trail, visit the Visitor Centre and linger in the Tea House.  

10. Paint of Interest invites you to Pottery and FREE Pizza Party on Friday, June 24 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Paint any pottery item you would like while enjoying some delicious FREE pizza and watching a movie of your choosing. Purchase of the item to paint is required. Ticket cost is $15 which is a deposit to hold your spot for that night and will go towards your final bill at the end of the night.
