What’s Happening this Weekend | June 10-12, 2022

1. The Town of Sylvan Lake is hosting its annual 1913 Days from June 9-12. Travel back in time to celebrate the Sylvan Lake spirit. Get ready for a weekend chock-full of Sylvan Lake spirit as we transport you through the ages. Lace-up your roller skates, shine up your dancin' shoes and pop some popcorn. It's going to be one heck of a party! Head to visitsylvanlake.ca/1913days for all the information and event times.

2. Discovery Canyon Park at River Bend Golf & Recreation Area is now open for summer. It features a natural river-fed water pool, playground area, concession, and washrooms. Discovery Canyon is open daily from June 1 until September long weekend, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.  

3. The Downtown Business Association is hosting Ross Street Patio Performances this summer. A partnership between The City of Red Deer and the Downtown Business Association, the Patio features free, live music for the Summer and early Fall season. They are proudly featuring talented local musicians and bands that contribute to the amazing atmosphere you will find on the beloved Patio. Events are free and open to the public. The Ross Street Patio is excited to have summer performances, Wednesday performances are from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, and Thursday's & Friday's 12:00 pm -1:30 pm.

4. Heritage Ranch presents 3 Bands & a BBQ! What better way to spend your evening than a delicious Ranch Approved BBQ Ribeye Steak and 3 very talented bands serenading you and your meal into the night. Not feeling very hungry and just want to enjoy the music and local artists? No problem! Get your tickets & come on in after 7:00 PM for drinks and pure talent. Featuring 3 Local Artists and Bands, Allen Christie, Memphis Mafia, and The Treblemakers YYC.  

5. The Troubled Monk Run is back. The Troubled Monk is turning 7, join them on June 11th, 2022 from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm for their 7th year Anniversary Party and Run. For the run: $60 ticket plus fees include a 5km or 10km run, one drink ticket, a #LuckySeven Troubled Monk hat. Not in running? Join them anyway with a cash donation to their charities or a food bank item. Beer gardens, food trucks, live music, and more.  

6. Bull Skit Comedy presents Calf Skit with its featured fairy tale Three Little Pigs. Fun for the whole family! Calf Skit is a family-friendly show that takes your classic lovable fairy tales and puts a spin on them using a blend of Improv comedy and choose your own adventure stories. This is a chance for you and your family to get involved in the telling of all the classic fairy tale stories. Recommended for kids 10 and under. The show is on June 11 at 10:00 and another show at 11:00 am at Barrett Park, beside the Kinex Arena.  

7. Farmers’ Market season is here! Summer Outdoor Market at Gasoline Alleys Farmers Market is this Saturday, June 11 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. This summer they are expanding the market outdoors through June, July, and August. The Summer Outdoor Market will take place every Saturday afternoon from 1:00- 4:00 pm. Stop by to see their new vendors.  The Market at Red Deer is also happening on Saturday, June 11. The Market runs every Saturday from May long weekend until Thanksgiving weekend and is open from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. The Market brings farm-fresh produce into the heart of Red Deer and a vast array of other goods, services, and entertainment.

8. PBR Canada’s 2022 Canada Cup Series is kicking off right here in Red Deer Saturday, June 11 at Westerner Park featuring Canada’s top cowboys and some of the top PBR international athletes as they battle the rankest bucking bulls. It's man vs. beast wrapped in the glitz and glamour that only the PBR can provide. With over two hours of heart-pounding, bone-crushing action, this is a night you won’t want to miss!  

9. Bo’s Bar and Stage presents REUBEN AND THE DARK w/ CLEA ANAÏS this Sunday, June 12. Doors open at 6:00 pm and tickets are $25. Reuben and the Dark is the spirited folk-rock outfit led by songwriter/ vocalist Reuben Bullock. Introspective, painterly lyricism floats against a backdrop of soaring compositions with powerful imagery and lush sonic detail at the forefront, translating the language of emotion into song with haunting clarity.  

10. The Red Deer Tattoo Show and Gala is also happening this weekend at Westerner Park. This event is full of art, live tattooing and entertainment, shopping, and unique competitions. For more information visit their website.
