What’s Happening This Weekend | Feb 25-27
1. The Red Deer Winter Carnival is back and it's happening at Bower Ponds this Friday from 6:00 pm to 10 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. For the past several years ACFA of Red Deer has hosted a Winter Carnival in February or March to celebrate French-Canadian traditions along with other winter activities. This event includes live music, dance, and traditional foods like pea soup, sugar pie, maple taffy, and more. Don’t forget to watch for the fireworks happening at 8:00 pm on Friday, as you enjoy this wonderful family-friendly event.
2. Bo’s Bar and Stage and Broken Tap records are hosting a Broken Strings and Stories Sessions featuring performances by JJ Shiplett, The Static Shift, and Fin McDowell this Friday starting at 8:00 pm. The tickets are $20.00 + SC and can be purchased by going to Eventbrite.
3. It’s Snowshoeing Adventure Time at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre this weekend from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, a good time to head out with your family for a little snowshoeing in the Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary. The rates are $3.00 a person or $10.00 a family and please note that everyone who attends this program must wear a mask while inside the building.
4. If Hockey’s your jam, then why not head down to the Peavey Mart Centrium to cheer on the Red Deer Rebels this Friday and Saturday evening. The concession is open, and proof of vaccination or a negative test is no longer required. Tickets can be purchased online and in person at the Tickets Alberta Box Office.
5. Did you know Alberta Sports Hall of Fame has electric Fat bikes and snowshoes for rent, a wonderful way to explore the trails and enjoy the great outdoors. They will also be at Bower Ponds this weekend for Red Deer’s Winter Carnival, so head down and check out what they have to offer.
6. Head down to Capstone to check out IceWorx, their outdoor riverside living room is now frozen in place till March 1. Take in the beautiful ice sculptures and maybe play a friendly game of ice checkers or a game of snow shuffleboard you choose.
