Celebrate Culture Across Red Deer all September Long  

September is a month brimming with creativity and cultural celebrations in Red Deer as Alberta Culture Days take centre stage. Whether you are an art enthusiast, a music lover, or looking to explore something new, there is plenty going on to spark your curiosity and ignite your passion for the arts.

WEEK ONE

City Hall Public Art Celebration

  • Date: September 6, 2024, 4:30 pm-6:00 pm
  • Location: City Hall
  • Description: The City of Red Deer unveils new public artworks, featuring artists Carol Lynn Gilchrist, Wendy Meeres, and Kyle Thornley. Enjoy refreshments, snacks, and live music. For more information, head to their website, here.  

“You Must Remember This” Art Exhibition Opening Ceremony  

  • Date: September 6, 2024, 5:00 pm-7:00 pm  
  • Location: Red Deer Arts Council Community Gallery
  • Description: Experience the opening of an exhibition displaying original literary and visual artworks, presented by the Central Alberta Retired Teachers’ Association and the Red Deer Arts Council. For more information, head to their website, here.

Capstone Cabaret

  • Date: September 6, 2024, 7:00 pm-9:30 pm  
  • Location: Capstone 150 Square

Norwegian Laft Hus Open House  

  • Date: September 7, 2024, 10:00 am-7:00 pm
  • Location: Norwegian Laft Haus

WEEK TWO

Just Dance! It’s Really Gonna Be Okay

  • Date: September 9, 2024, 4:30 pm-5:30 pm  
  • Location: Culture Services Building

Art is Try – Artistry!

  • Date: September 9, 2024, 4:30 pm-6:30 pm

Brave New Worlds – Open Stage for Writers

  • Date: September 10, 2024, 7:00 pm-9:00 pm

“Be ARTventurous” Scooter Tour

  • Date: September 12, 2024, 5:00 pm  
  • Location: Downtown Red Deer
  • Description: An adult-oriented scooter tour exploring murals, galleries, and snack hotspots. The tour will begin at Sunworks, and finish with a surprise! Pre-registration is required. Register here.

Woodworking Day

  • Location: Ellis Nature Centre

Concert in the Park

  • Date: September 17, 2024
  • Location: Heritage Square, 7:00 pm

Intro to Improvisation with Bull Skit Comedy

Pemmican Making Workshop

Yoga in the Square

Sounds Like Sunday Music Series

MAG Saturdays

MAGsparks

  • Date: Every Monday in September (Beginning September 16), 1:00 pm -2:30 pm

  • Description: MAGsparks is an inclusive art program open to all, with a special focus on individuals with disabilities. Participants can explore various art forms, experimenting with different media and techniques in a lively, engaging environment. This is a drop-in class that is FREE to attend in September.
