What’s Happening this Weekend | April 8-10, 2022

Although Easter is a week away, there are still some celebrations happening this weekend, along with some great live entertainment. We invite you to explore Red Deer’s backyard with family and friends and enjoy what we have to offer.  

The Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery would like to invite you to their Zentangle Bunny with Saija this Saturday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This MAGsaturday event will put you in the Easter mood as you fill in an adorable bunny using repeating patterns, shapes and lines and then put the bunnies on a colourful scrapbook paper background. The cost is $20 per family, $5 per person and MAG members are $2.00 per person.

The Forum Inc this Friday will be delighting us with their Shades of a Woman show created and designed for women by women, including Aerial Silks, Dance, Live Music, and Poetry happening at Bo’s Bar and Stage. Then on Saturday, it is back to your country roots with Gone Country with Mamas for Mamas and Aaron Pritchett with a Silent Auction and live performances. Tickets are available online and details can be found by going to their website, so don’t delay.  

Come on down to the Parkland Garden Centre to meet the Easter Bunny this weekend from 11-4 on Saturday and 12-5 on Sunday. There will be an opportunity to get a 4x6 glossy photo with the Easter Bunny himself for $10, so hop on over.

The 40th Anniversary of the Stettler Trade Show is happening April 08-10 with a whole lot of fun, food, and family entertainment. There will be over 125 vendors, a snow circus, Hot Diggity Dogs, a tribute to Elvis and so much more.

Join the Town of Penhold for an Easter Eggstravaganza happening on April 9 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Hop over to the Penfold Multiplex Gymnasium for photos with the Easter Bunny, activities, face painting, balloon artist and wagon rides, $5 per person or $10 per family.

Carl Stretton is performing live at the Sawback Brewing Taproom this Saturday from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm. Come on down and enjoy a pint or two while supporting our local musicians.

There is still time for you to get swinging your clubs for the upcoming golf season in the Innisfail Golf Club “Masters Celebration” happening until Sunday. Join them for themed food and beverage specials, discounts on the golf Simulators, and more.

Fusing contemporary Irish Dance with magic and grand illusions is what is in store for you with Celtic Illusion Sunday, April 10 at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Westerner Park. There are still tickets available, so check it out by going online or calling the Tickets Alberta Box Office, this is a show not to be missed.

The Town of Blackfalds is hosting a Free Family Easter Event at the Blackfalds Community Centre this Saturday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with the Big brothers Big Sisters Charity BB, no registration is required to attend. There will be free family activity booths, prize draws and treat bags given to the first 250 children to complete all the Easter activities.

Kerry Wood Nature Centre would like to invite you to Meet the Critter this Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Join an Interpreter to meet their Tiger Salamanders and learn all about this local amphibian. This is a drop-in event and a suggested donation of $3.00 a person or $10 a family would be preferred.

There is still time to take in a  Red Deer Rebels home game before the playoffs and this Friday they will be facing off the Hurricanes. There are still tickets available, so make it a date and cheer on your favourite team. Tickets can be found online or purchased at the Tickets Alberta Box Office.
