1. CentreFest Street Performer Festival and the Meet the Street Festival return together this weekend, September 2-4, 2022. Head downtown to experience live music, street performers, mural tours, Circus World, a street market, food trucks, magicians, art activities, and more at Meet the Street + Centrefest Street Performer Festival. 2. Capstone is also celebrating the Meet the Street Festival this weekend. Mural tours, arts and crafts, activities for all ages, live music, and food trucks. To celebrate the 2nd annual meet the street festival, Capstone is also doing mural tours to explore the new masterpieces around the heart of the city. Click here for all the details.
3. Red Deer Culture Days is happening for the whole month of September in conjunction with Alberta Culture Days. There are many events and activities happening around the City of Red Deer for people to attend. Red Deer Arts Council is hosting a Community Art Project on September 3 and 4 from 1:00 – 6:30 pm at City Hall Park. Red Deer Arts Council and City of Red Deer Community Development and Culture present local artists leading a hands-on art activity for children and families. Create your own talking puppet using a clothespin and your imagination!
4. Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery are hosting MAGnificent Saturdays for the month of September. Saturday, September 3 is Relief Printmaking from 1:00-4:00 pm. Free for September, all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. They supply the materials and the studio and the instructions, and all you do is bring your imagination. 5. Red Deer Arts Council also has a Pop-Up Art Gallery open from September 1-30, 2022 for Red Deer Culture Days. This gallery is located at the Red Deer Arts Council office gallery, 6-4919 49 Street. Red Deer Arts Council and Central Alberta Retired Teachers’ Association present an exhibition of original visual and literary artworks in the RDAC’s new office gallery. The theme of this exhibit is Reconnect and Collective Care.
6. The Track on 2 is located 20 minutes north of Red Deer near Lacombe. Make sure to catch their Sunday Race, Post time is 1:10 pm. Enjoy the excitement and bet on the live horse racing (over 18). Attendance and parking are free, and all ages are welcome. Check out their website here for more details.
7. Don’t forget to try the new Canyon Coaster out this long weekend. Weave in and out of the ski slope and forest trails on the brand-new alpine coaster at Canyon Ski Resort. This Coaster reaches over 1300 meters in length with a total440-foot vertical drop. If you are heading out on Saturday or Sunday, make sure to book your tickets in advance, they do sell out fast. 8. This weekend is the last weekend to enjoy Discovery Canyon. It features a natural river-fed water pool, playground area, concession, and washrooms. Discovery Canyon is open daily from June 1 until September long weekend, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.
