Help us to celebrate National Volunteer Week from April 24-30 by recognizing these wonderful volunteers and their contributions to communities at large. “Volunteering is empathy on action” and many nonprofit businesses rely on volunteers to assist in operations and keep things running smoothly. Here are a few ways you can contribute and bring heart to our communities large and small. Check out some of our members below that have volunteer opportunities.

Red Deer has a vibrant arts community and volunteers are so important to keep it thriving. Places like Red Deer Museum & Gallery, Prime Stock Theatre, Red Deer Arts Council, Bull Skit Comedy, ACFA Regional de Red Deer and the Red Deer Cultural Heritage Society are just a few of the organizations that need your support and volunteer hours.  

Are you interested in sports and sports history? Then the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame could be a good fit for you! With a variety of volunteer opportunities available such as data entry or special events, you could be helping this organization leave its mark locally and provincially. 

Westerner Park plays host to numerous functions, from Westerner Days in the summer to The Canadian Finals Rodeo in the fall. These events require a variety of volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly and gives those who attend memorable experiences. 

Volunteers play an important role in bringing the Sunnybrook Farm Museum to life from restoring old farm equipment to putting together pioneer-themed school programs. If you think this environment is a good fit apply to become a member of their dedicated team of volunteers and have some fun.

The Waskasoo Environmental Education Society is a vital organization to our community and the environment. Several programs and experiences are coordinated by WEES including Green Deer (Red Deer’s City-Wide Cleanup Program). Hands-on activities like building bat houses or nature-inspired crafts, to special events and fundraisers, all of which require assistance from dedicated volunteers.
