Experience life at a slower pace onboard the Alberta Prairie Railway Excursions. Visitors will experience the sights, sounds, and smells of turn-of-the-century train travel. We interviewed Bob Willis, the General Manager of Alberta Prairie Railway below:

1. Tell us about your company?

We are based in Stettler, Alberta. We offer exciting one-day adventures on a vintage passenger train from the 1920s. Different themed excursions are available throughout the year. These include Country Dinners, Adults Only specials, lots of family events, live stage shows, Country Carnivals, and the Polar Express©.

2. What makes you different, unique, or stand out?

Alberta Prairie offers train excursions lasting from five to six hours traveling 42.4 miles round-trips. Most excursions include a full course buffet meal at the destination, onboard entertainment, time to do some sightseeing, and usually a train robbery. You will experience life at a slower pace and meet lots of new friends as you travel through some of the prettiest countryside in Alberta. There is lots of wildlife and learn about this traditional form of transportation.

3. Why do you do what you do?

We offer fun and unique experiences for families and individuals to make lasting memories. Our goal is to put smiles on your faces.

4. What can guests (local or visiting) expect to experience?

Step back in time where life was lived at a more serene pace. Guests ride in a 1920 vintage train sets the stage for a unique adventure. Passengers will meet our costumed historical characters, enjoy views of Alberta’s breathtaking landscape, relax in vintage railway coaches, enjoy onboard and destination entertainers, dine on home-cooked country dinners, explore rural communities and museums, and thrill at the arrival of the notorious Reynold Raiders or Pump Car bandit robbers. The trains travel to the Village of Big Valley, a one and one-half hour journey, or the Country Hideaway at Warden Junction where guests can enjoy vintage carnival games, take a hayride, or simply relax in one of Alberta’s best natural rural settings. All trains depart and return to Stettler, Alberta.
