Frights & Delights: Celebrating Halloween In and Around Red Deer

It's spooky season in and around Red Deer

Get spooky with Fort Normandeau this Friday & Saturday from 6:30 - 7:30 pm with Family Fright. There will be clues to follow, a scavenger hunt, tricks, treats and so much more! Entry is $20/family and pre-registration is required. For those ages 14 and up, Festival of Fright features with escape rooms, lots of tricks and treats and tons of other spooky surprises. The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame will be getting into the spirit of Halloween with a two-part event. First, their Halloween Spooktacular on Friday from 12 - 4 pm with covid-friendly games, crafts and goodie bags. Drop-in and enjoy at just $10/family, which includes entry into the museum. Then, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Friday evening, they will be hosting a family movie night with popcorn and refreshments provided for just $20! Space is limited, so please reserve your spot by calling (403)341-8614.  

Head over to the Gasoline Alley Farmers Market and challenge your crew to the Halloween Trivia Adventure! Pick up your map, answer the riddles, collect all stamps and win a surprise treat! Hosted by Tropical Delights, this event will run from 11 am - 3 pm on Halloween day.

Outdoor Fun

Join the Boys & Girls Club of Red Deer and District as we celebrate the frightful season with a Hocus Pocus Scavenger Hunt. This is a 30-hour event that engages groups of family and friends to embark on a fun and safe adventure in completing a series of 30 photo challenges, starting Saturday at noon till Sunday at 6 pm.  Showcase your creative side and your Halloween spirit, and you might just win some ghastly prizes! The kiddos are all dressed up and itching to go trick or treating then why not head to Sylvan Lake this Sunday from 2 - 5 pm and enjoy their Downtown Trick-or-Treat event. Keep an eye open for the “Treats Here” posters. However, beware that some of the businesses may have more than just treats!  

Head down to Heritage Ranch this week for The Great Pumpkin Hunt and a chance to win $1,000 cash! Check out the Great Pumpkin Hunt Giveaway for details and to get your tickets, the winner will be announced on October 31. There are also various other pumpkin activities from the Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt to the $500 Pumpkin Drop happening Sunday, October 31. For the Adults

For those over 18, celebrate Halloween on Saturday, October 30 at Bellini’s Sonic Lounge and Nightclub or Longriders Saloon and Dancehall at the Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre. Doors open at 9 pm!

For live entertainment The Road, The Stage presents a Halloween Party Supreme with The Pits Planet Earth & Young Howler this Saturday at Bo’s Bar and Stage starting at 8 pm. Tickets are $15 + fees and can be purchased online.  

You can also head down to Chillabongs Bar and Grill for their Halloween Party with See Alice, live music, dancing and prizes for best Halloween costumes. Remember they are part of the Restrictive Exemption Program, so please come prepared.

All dressed up this Halloween weekend with no place to go? Try venturing on down to Cilantro and Chive Red Deer for a spooky cocktail like the Undertaker or perhaps their Vampire’s Cocktail; SO good and only available until October 31.  

If running is your passion, why not enter the Halloween Half(5km/10km/21km) this Saturday, starting at the Bower Ponds Outdoor Stage. To keep it affordable, participants receive a timing chip, on-course aid stations, Cinnzeo bakery snacks & water at the finish line. They encourage everyone to dress up and run the course in costume! Join Paint of Interest a walk-in art café this Friday evening from 6 - 9 pm for a date night and get creative while watching a Halloween Classic Hocus Pocus. There will be free popcorn provided for you to snack on.

If you haven’t been to A+ Art Gallery & Unique Collections yet, this Halloween weekend is the perfect time. Their Strange & Unusual Things Exhibition has been happening all month and is showcasing the artists in different ways. The gallery will be open from 12 - 4 pm this Friday and Saturday!
