CentreFest Street Performer Festival + 2022 Meet the Street | September 2-4, 2022

CentreFest Street Performer Festival and the Meet the Street Festival return together for the first time this weekend, September 2-4, 2022. Head downtown to experience live music, street performers, mural tours, Circus World, a street market, food trucks, magicians, art activities, and more. It’s free to attend and everyone is welcome!

Meet the Street is an art and culture experience that celebrates visual and performance art, music, and meaningful community partnerships in Red Deer's downtown core. Explore enhanced alley spaces and murals year-round. Twelve new murals have been added to downtown areas, transforming them into welcoming community spaces for all to enjoy. Murals are being painted by talented artists through the summer, with most artists assisted by volunteers.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a Street Performer?

Street performing, or busking is an ancient form of entertainment. They set up and create a show where there was nothing but the street. They gather people passing by and turn them into an audience. The street performer then presents a full show, usually with an amazing finale. All with no guarantee of getting paid, but because the performer has made a connection with the audience, people voluntarily put bills into the performer's hat. It's truly the most honest form of entertainment in the world. Audience participation is the key to being a successful street performer.

How much does it cost?

It's free! But tipping the performers is greatly appreciated. It’s up to you how much you pay. Street performers earn their living by “passing the hat”. So, when you enjoy their performance, let them know with your toonies and bills.

Parking?

Public Street parking is available all around the site and is FREE on Saturdays and Sundays.
