Back to the Roots at Parkland Gardens with #ColleenOnTheScene

Two weeks ago, I had the good fortune to venture down to Parkland Gardens for their Back to the Roots Day alongside my aunt. What a beautiful spot, only three mins East of Red Deer, just off Highway 11. We checked out the various plants, shrubs, and some of the beautiful gifts inside their building. Being a plant person, my aunt came equipped with several questions that were answered by their knowledgeable staff. The Red Deer Aboriginal Dance Troupe performed that day in the gardens, and I have to say, they were truly outstanding.

We were hungry during intermission, so we ventured over to the Pink Bow Steak & Crepes booth for a delicious waffle filled with caramel apple filling and whipped cream, oh so good and their mango slushies with the Strawberry pearls were so refreshing, what a treat.

It was then a quick visit to the Central Alberta Humane Society‘s booth to convince my aunt that she really did need a rescue in her life and then home. What a perfect day; Parkland Gardens did put on a lovely event.  If you missed out on this event, you are in luck; this Sunday, Randi Boulton will be performing from 1:00 pm to 3:15 pm, so make sure you call ahead for tickets. Her world-class soulful music is a showstopper not to be missed outdoors in the beautiful setting of Parkland gardens.
