It is now officially the Christmas season and time for decorating, reconnecting, Christmas cards and yes, shopping, trying to find that perfect gift for those special people in your lives. You can do that by shopping local and Holiday Markets and Craft fairs are the ideal way to get into the festive spirit. Here is a list of some of our fabulous Christmas Markets and Craft Fairs as we Explore Red Deer’s Back Yard.

Markerville’s Christmas Cookie Walk features thousands of homemade cookies available at Fensala Hall in Markerville 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Friday & Saturday, November 13-14. Please note when visiting them for this event, masks are encouraged but not mandatory, all covid regulations will be followed.

Made with Love invites you to join them to kick off the festive season at their Holiday Sip & Shop event Friday, November 13. Featuring over 50 local handmade vendors, you are sure to find unique gifts with their excellent selection of talented artisans. A great way to spend time with your girlfriends and a bonus to getting your Christmas shopping done early while supporting local.

The Norwegian Laft Hus Society’s Annual Craft and Bake Sale will be hosting the 2020 annual Lefse bake sale online due to COVID-19 and social distancing. You will have the opportunity to buy packages of Lefse at $12 per package plus an admin fee for five Lefse pieces. Advance prepaid orders only through Eventbrite.  One week before Saturday, November 21, you will be contacted with your pick-up time, and you will be assigned a 10-minute time slot. This time slot will allow you to do a little shopping at the Buttik for giftware and handmade items.  Due to limited space and COVID restrictions, only one member per family household allowed in the Hus to pick-up the prepaid order.

Parkland Garden Centre is hosting a Craft and Market every Saturday till December 19. This market provides local craftspeople with the opportunity to showcase their handmade crafts and foods. Admission is free, but a donation to the Red Deer Food Bank is appreciated. Please note that due to COVID-19 regulations, there will be limited attendance, physical distancing and masks are required.

The Holiday Market at the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame is happening Saturday and Sunday, November 13-14, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is a little something for everyone, from home decor to homemade treats to jewelry and arts and crafts.

The Gasoline Alley Farmers Market will be opening every Saturday and Sunday starting November 21 and 22. There will be approximately 50 independent and local vendors from Alberta selling high-quality, fresh ingredients and products. A great place to pick up a handcrafted gift for that someone special.

Blue Grass Sod Farm ChristmasChristmas season means the holiday magic is back in-store at Blue Grass Garden Centre Red Deer. Their Christmas Markets are running every Sunday from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm and concluding with the final market on December 20. They have some amazing local vendors and artisans setting up shop at this years’ markets that you won’t want to miss!

Join The Winter Holiday Craft Show and Market at the Baymont Inns and Suites Saturday, November 21, from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm. They will have a fantastic line up of vendors! Admission is free, with gift card draws and basket giveaways.

Just For You Christmas Craft Show and Market at the Baymont Inns and Suites Saturday, November 28, from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm. There will be all types of unique shopping, and at every show, they invite new vendors; no two shows are the same.

The Scott Block Theatre Winter Market is the first indoor winter market hosted by the Downtown Business Association for Red Deer Lights the Night. This event is an Alberta Farmers’ Market Association approved market that will feature local vendors selling an array of make it, bake it, and/or grow it items. The times and dates for the market are Thursday & Friday, Nov 26 – 27, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Friday, November 28, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

“CANCELLED”The Stocking Stuffer Market is happening at the Community Centre in Sylvan lake Saturday and Sunday, December 5 & 6, from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm. Shop handcrafted products that are great for giving, many under $25; the admission is free with a suggested donation to the Sylvan Lake Food Bank.
