Don’t let the snow keep you inside this month. There’s lots of events and activities around Red Deer to help cure the winter blues.
Ski, Board and Tube
Canyon Ski Resort is home to a whole host of winter fun. Their latest addition is the Snow Tubing Park. Open 5-9PM Fridays and 1-5PM on weekends, the park gives riders the fun of tubing without the whole “walking back up the hill” thing. The park features two groomed lanes, banked corners and a dedicated tubing lift to take you back to the top. Rates include tube, helmet and fun!
Snowshoe Some More
Once you’ve sampled snowshoeing and want some more, head to the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. The centre offers snowshoe rentals and lots of room to explore. Bundle up and get outdoors!
Go for a Skate
What’s winter in Canada without a little skating? Bower Ponds has long been one of the most popular and scenic skating locations in the area. Add in a toboggan hill and a series of walking trails, and you’ve got a one stop winter destination. No skates? No problem. Rentals and sharpening are available in the Bower Ponds Pavilion.
Pond Hockey Night in Canada
The Sylvan Lake Pond Hockey Tournament returns in February. Players from all around Alberta converge on Sylvan Lake for three days of pond hockey action. The fun isn’t just limited to the participants. A variety of family activities are in the works to keep everyone entertained.
