The NEW Canyon Coaster – Everything you need to know!

Red Deer’s Canyon Ski Hill is now fun ALL YEAR ROUND! Canyon Ski Hill announced in the Spring that they were building Alberta’s first and only Alpine Coaster. Canyon Ski Hill is located in Red Deer County, just 10 minutes east of the city of Red Deer. The coaster is officially opened on Friday, August 5, 2022.

Soar down the Luge track as you weave in and out of the ski slope and forest trails on the Brand-New Canyon Alpine Coaster! This Coaster reaches over 1300 meters in length with a total 440-foot vertical drop! For all the information check out their website: www.canyonski.ca/coaster

Tickets

It is recommended to pre-purchase your tickets ahead of time online. Click here to purchase tickets.

Tourism Red Deer Tip: being able to ride it more than once was great. The first time down the coaster you can figure out the brakes and see how fast it goes. The second time down, you can go faster because you know what to expect.

Walk-up tickets may be purchased depending on availability each day. It is recommended to secure your spot by purchasing in advance. You will be emailed a copy of your online order. There is a barcode on the emailed receipt that will be scanned at our guest services ticket window. That is where you will be given your wristbands for the day.

What to Expect

Hold on tight and get ready for a thrilling ride down the Canyon. Riders use their own brake, so they can control the speed and safely reach up to 40 km per hour winding down the twists and turns of the track down into the Canyon. The ride down is roughly 2-3 minutes. To have an idea of what to expect, see the point-of-view videos below:

Riders stay in the cart on the way back up the Canyon and this takes roughly 10 minutes. It is a nice and relaxing experience after the thrilling ride down. After your ride, if you pre-booked another ride, you can go again. If not, you can exit the ride and head back to the ticketing area for yummy treats and refreshments.

Food and Drink

Stay for some refreshments, check out the menu below. Grab a bite to eat, have a refreshing drink and take in the gorgeous views of the Red Deer River and the beautiful valley.
