Our dogs are our greatest source of happiness; they provide us unconditional love, constant companionship and make us laugh when we are feeling down. They can also be destructive if they do not get enough exercise, so getting them out is a must. Here in Red Deer, we are very fortunate. Not only do we have an abundance of trails with over 100 km in Waskasoo Park to take them out for walks, but we also have two incredible off-leash dog parks, a place for them to run freely, explore and socialize.
Three Mile Bend is one of my favourites; it is along the river, with various ponds and a 3.4-kilometre walking loop. The area is always well kept, and there is plenty of parking, washroom facilities, benches, and picnic tables. In summer, you never have to worry about the heat as it is well shaded with plenty of trees with various places for the dogs to go for a swim. Winter brings another source of pleasure as they plough a large portion of the trails, so even on those frosty mornings, your pup can go for a walk. Please be aware that it is not fenced and there is plenty of wildlife sharing the park, so make sure you are with your dogs.
