It’s Valentines' weekend, a time for reconnection and spending time with those you love.
Celebrate Valentine’s on Sunday, February 13 with your family by taking them for a delicious natural winter treat “Maple Syrup Snow Candy.” Join Kerry Wood Nature Centre at the Festival Field, learn the history and enjoy a sample of this traditional sugar treat, only $5.00 a family and all ages are welcome. Please note although it is outside everyone who attends must wear a mask.
It’s Superbowl Sunday and places like Bo’s Bar and Stage are bringing you a Super Bowl LVI Party with doors opening at 2:00 pm and kickoff at 4:30 pm. Chillabongs Bar and Grill is also gearing up for the Superbowl with free swag to giveaway and prizes to enter to win. There will also be free popcorn as you cheer on your favourite team Cincinnati Bengals or the Los Angeles Rams.
Head down to Gasoline Alley’s Farmer Market this weekend and treat your family to some delicious tacos from Taco Monster or maybe a craft beer from Craft Beer Commonwealth and some Italian Soda water for the kids, so good. It is then off to shop at one of the many shops located throughout the market for some valentine treats at places like Café Millennium or maybe that special bottle of wine at D&A Gardens and Our Roots Estate Winery. Don’t forget when you are down there to enter in Gasoline Alley Farmers Market’s Contest, $250.00 worth of gift cards. It is free to enter and the contest closes Sunday, February 13.
A winter walk throughout our many trails is the perfect way to spend some time alone, with your loved ones, or your fur baby. Whether you head over to Michael O’Brien Wetlands picturesque walking loop or Three Mile Bend Off-leash Recreation area, it’s sure to be a lovely time.
For you live theatre buffs there are still tickets available for Central Alberta’s “Fully Committed” Dinner Theatre happening this weekend Friday and Saturday night, a hilarious look at the Foodie Culture. As well Ecole Secondaire Notre Dame schools presents Freaky Friday, a new musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films. The performances will be happening at the Red Deer Polytechnic Performing Arts Centre Main stage this Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online by going to the Red Deer Polytechnic website.
Take a trip to Sylvan lake’s Winter Village with your sweetie and take in the twinkling lights with music, the bonfires on the pier, and a little skating after dark with colour-changing lighting embedded in the ice surface, so romantic.
