Celebrate Father’s Day this weekend with our top 10 things to do around the Red Deer and central Alberta this weekend.

1. The Town of Blackfalds presents Blackfalds Days 2022 this weekend. They start the celebration on Friday evening with Food Trucks, a Youth night out event, and a concert headliner act Aaron Pritchett, and then dance the night away with Neon Smoke. Their community parade is on Saturday at 11:00 am, followed by Servus Kids Zone and market. Rock out on Saturday night with American Rock Legends, John Forgerty, CCR, and Bob Seger Tributes. 2. The Town of Innisfail presents Innisfail Rotary Pro Rodeo Parade on Saturday, June 18, at 10:30 am. The Innisfail Rotary Pro Rodeo Parade is held each year to coincide with the Daines Ranch Pro Rodeo. The parade route winds its way through the streets of downtown Innisfail and features participants from the community and from around the region. Take in the action at the Innisfail Pro Rodeo held at the Daines Ranch after the parade, located just a few kilometres north of town on the C&E Trail.

3. If you are checking out the Innisfail festivities this weekend, make sure to gather your family and head down to Discovery Wildlife Park. Discovery Wildlife Park is the place to discover your connection to nature and get you up close and personal with their orphaned animals, so you will have animal experiences that you have never had before. Join them this weekend for tons of family fun, open from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm daily.  

4. If you are looking for a fun day trip from Red Deer, the Rocky Mountain Historic Site is now open for the summer. The Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site is a fine example of the fur trade in the west. Discover a historic trading post along the North Saskatchewan River and immerse yourself in stories of Indigenous Peoples and legendary explorers. Discover interpretive experiences, archaeological foundations of four forts, plains bison, hiking and biking trails, friendly heritage presenters, and the Trading Post Gift Shop.

5. Join the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery on their Downtown Buildings Walking Tours this summer. This Saturday, June 18 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Tours start at the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery. Discover what Red Deer was like over 100 years ago, in the early days, Ross Street has been a destination for visitors since the arrival of the railway in the 1890s. Downtown was lined with hotels, cafes, entertainment and businesses, and city parks for locals and visitors to Central Alberta. For decades, Little Gaetz avenue was the place to shop in Red Deer. Learn about the people and places that shaped Red Deer and enjoy the public art along the way. Join them for a 1 hour guided historical walking tour in downtown Red Deer. Please register to save a spot, donations are gratefully accepted (suggested donation of $2/person).  

6. Heritage Ranch presents a Father’s Day Outdoor BBQ & Brunch Buffet Style this Sunday, June 19 from 8:45 am - 2:30 pm. Spoil Dad this year with a great outdoor buffet-style meal with gorgeous patio seating! (weather permitted) Click here for a full menu listing and to make reservations.  

7. A Father's Day Experience at Capstone is on Sunday, June 19 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Take on Dad at the Poker Rally in Capstone for an unforgettable Father’s Day experience. You'll both have a ton of fun joining in activities and challenges, including a putting area by Golf Zone Red Deer, VR games experience by CTRl V Red Deer. Disc Golf by Red Deer PCN and Taco Monster Food Truck will also be there. Participants join in a variety of activities on-site to collect a great poker hand and a winning prize.⁠ Once a participant completes an activity, they will receive a playing card from the activity host, a minimum of 5 activities need to be completed to make a full poker hand.⁠ Participants can complete more challenges to receive more cards, and hopefully, make their hand stronger. ⁠All poker hands must be turned in by 3:00 pm to be counted.⁠ Prizes will be awarded for best hand, worst hand, and a random draw for anyone who did not win either.⁠

8. Alberta Prairie Railway is hosting a Father's Day Special on Sunday, June 19 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Treat Dad to a day out with the family to Alberta Prairie’s Country Hidaway. Tickets include a free hat for every father traveling with family, a full course cafeteria-style roast of Alberta Beef meal, hayrides, nature walks, inside and/or outside dining, a robbery by the Pump Car Bandits, on-site live entertainment, children’s barrel train, and old-time carnival games. 9. The Downtown Business Association is hosting Ross Street Patio Performances this summer. A partnership between The City of Red Deer and the Downtown Business Association, the Patio features free, live music for the Summer and early Fall season. They are proudly featuring talented local musicians and bands that contribute to the amazing atmosphere you will find on the beloved Patio. Events are free and open to the public. The Ross Street Patio is excited to have summer performances, Wednesday performances are from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, and Thursday's & Friday's 12:00 pm -1:30 pm.

10. Bo’s Bar and Stage is hosting Ocean Alley: North America 2022. The Road the Stage Presents Ocean Alley: North America 2022 with special guests on Friday, June 17 doors open at 6:00 pm, and show starts at 8:00 pm.
