1. CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING  

Here in Red Deer, we are fortunate to have several spacious areas perfect for your skiing experience. River Bend Golf and Recreation Area have 19 km of groomed cross-country ski trails surrounded by the beautiful Red Deer River Valley with 4 km of lighted trails for evening runs. They also have cross-country ski rentals for the whole family if you want to try it out.

2. RED DEER REBELS GAME

Cheer on the Red Deer Rebels this Friday, March 10 as they take on the Calgary Hitman. The game starts at 7:00 pm at the Peavey Mart Centrium.

3. LIVE MUSIC AT BO’S BAR AND STAGE

The Road the Stage presents Altameda with Evan Redsky and Corollaries at Bo’s Bar and Stage. Enjoy the live concert on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 8:00 pm.

4. BOWER PONDS SKATING

The weather looks good for the weekend so get out and experience some fun winter activities Red Deer has to offer. Head to Bower Ponds to go tobogganing down the hill or try out skating. Warm up with hot chocolate in the pavilion. The hours for the rentals and café are Monday -Friday 4:30-9:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday 11:00 am - 9:00 pm.

5. LIVE MUSIC AT THE TRACK ON 2    

Stillhouse Songwriter Session #65 with artists: Mariya Stokes & Devin Cooper. Set in a listening room atmosphere that creates a unique experience for both artists and fans, the Stillhouse Songwriter Sessions will focus on the craft of songwriting and the stories that go along with it. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm.

6. LAST DAY TO SEE THE EXHIBIT: RED DEER MUSEUM + ART GALLERY

Join a MAG staff member for a guided tour of the exhibit Landmarks: A Sense of Place, featuring the work of local artists Carol Lynn Gilchrist and Wendy Meeres.

7. GASOLINE ALLEY FARMERS MARKET

Gasoline Alley Farmers’ Market is a vibrant indoor market open year-round in Red Deer County that celebrates local producers, artisans, and farmers from Alberta. They are open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, they welcome you to meet local bakers, makers, growers, brewers, and crafters.

When: Fridays and Saturdays 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, and Sundays, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

8. CANYON SKI HILL GLOW TUBING

Canyon Ski Resort has snow tubing! The snow tube park has some of the best views of the Red Deer River Valley and the City of Red Deer! Enjoy this beautiful backdrop as you fly down the 6 groomed runs day or night! Enjoy hot chocolate or cold beer in front of the fire or a warm meal from the upper village kitchen! Glow tubing is on Friday nights from 5:30-7:30pm.

9. MUSICAL MORNINGS AT KERRY WOOD NATURE CENTRE  

The relative quiet of the winter woods is changing day by day as more spring and summer residents begin to make their way back to the sanctuary. Join the returning birds and an Interpreter for musical play using both human-made and natural sources of rhythm and sound.  

When: Sunday, March 12 (11:00 am -12:30 pm)  
Where: Kerry Wood Nature Centre
Cost: $3/person or $10/family. Drop-in.  

10. RED DEER HOME SHOW AT WESTERNER PARK  

Each year, the Red Deer Home Show provides Central Albertans with a spectacular venue for new and improved products and services featuring award-winning builders, renovators, products, ideas, and décor!

When: Friday, March 10 (noon-8 pm) Saturday, March 11 (10 am – 6 pm) Sunday, March 12 (10 am – 5 pm)
Where: Westerner Park
Cost: Tickets: $12, free admission for those 12 and under
