BOWER PONDS SKATING

It’s going to be a beautiful weekend, so why not pull out the skates and go down to Bower Ponds. Bower Ponds has long been one of the most popular and scenic skating locations in the area and they also have skate rentals.

PARKLAND GARDEN CENTRE WINTER MINI MARKET AND ICE SCULPTURE

The winter market will have fresh produce and bakery items. While you visit help yourself to a coffee and enjoy walking amongst our tropical plant area or view our Ice Sculptures outdoors.

When: Saturday, January 7 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

CANYON SKI HILL
The Snow Tube Park at Canyon Ski Resort is so much fun, book your time on New Year’s Eve then it’s back home for dinner and a movie, the perfect evening. The park is located at the top of the hill complete with 6 groomed lanes. The New Year’s Eve hours are 12:45 pm and 3:00 pm and you can book your tickets online.

OPENING RECEPTION AT THE RED DEER MUSEUM + ART GALLERY

The MAG has dug further into its collections to bring out artwork and artifacts that exemplify key moments in the growth of Red Deer and the MAG. The collection holds significant Fine Art, Fashion, Activism, Material Culture and stories from the community that you may find surprising. The new exhibit opened on December 17, 2022 and goes until March 11, 2023.  

When: The opening reception is Friday, January 6, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.

LIGHT THE NIGHT ATTRACTION AT DISCOVERY WILDLIFE PARK

Light the Night at Discovery Wildlife Park in Innisfail has more than 25km of light displays! The display is estimated to be a 20-25 min drive. At the end of the display, you can stop in at the gift shop for a hot beverage.

When: Every night until January 15, 2023

GASOLINE ALLEY FARMERS MARKET

Gasoline Alley Farmers’ Market is a vibrant indoor market open year-round in Red Deer County that celebrates local producers, artisans, and farmers from Alberta. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, we welcome you to meet your local bakers, makers, growers, brewers, and crafters.

When: Fri, Jan. 6 and Sat, Jan. 7 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm) and Sun, Jan. 8 (10:00 am – 4:00 pm)

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING  

Here in Red Deer, we are fortunate to have several spacious areas perfect for your skiing experience. River Bend Golf and Recreation Area has 19 km of groomed cross-country ski trails surrounded by the beautiful Red Deer River Valley with 4 km of lighted trails for evening runs. They also have cross-country ski rentals for the whole family if you want to try it out.
