1. BOWER PONDS

The weather is warming up for the weekend so get out and experience some fun winter activities Red Deer has to offer. Head to Bower Ponds to go tobogganing down the hill, winter walking, or try out skating on the ponds. Warm up in the pavilion with hot chocolate, the café hours are, Monday-Friday 4:30-9:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday 11:00 am - 9:00 pm.

2. WILDLIFE FESTIVAL AT WESTERNER PARK

The Wildlife Festival is returning to Parkland Pavilion at Westerner Park this weekend. This fun event features three exhibits, the diversity of living things, discover the similarities and differences of the different types of animals that call earth home. This is Africa, learn about the planet’s 2nd largest continent. Finally, the journey to the Amazon, learn more about the worlds largest rainforest comes to life.

When: February 3 – 5, 2023
Where: Westerner Park
Cost: Single Admission: $17.00 in advance, $21.00 at the door. Kids 3 and under free.

3. PBR CROSS COUTNRY CANADA CLASSIC

PBR Canada’s 2023 Canada Cup Series is kicking off right here in Red Deer, featuring Canada’s top cowboys and some of the top PBR international athletes as they battle the rankest bucking bulls.

When: Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 7:00 pm
Where: Westerner Park
Cost: Standard tickets range from $20.00 - $100.00

4. FIRST FRIDAY RED DEER: CURRENT EXHIBITS

Drop by the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery this Friday, February 3rd from 5-8pm to see the current exhibits. It's free to visit! Click their website to learn more about the current exhibits.

5. ICE SCULPTURES ON ROSSSTREET PATIO

The new ice sculptures on Ross Street Patio were unveiled on January 26. Check them out this weekend.

6. PARKLAND GARDEN CENTRE WINTER MARKET

Parkland Garden Centre is hosting a Winter Mini Market every Saturday in January and February from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

When: Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 10:00 am
Where: Parkland Garden Centre is located 3 minutes East of 30th Avenue, Red Deer on Highway 11 East.
Cost: Free

7. GASOLINE ALLEY FARMERS MARKET

Gasoline Alley Farmers’ Market is a vibrant indoor market open year-round in Red Deer County that celebrates local producers, artisans, and farmers from Alberta. Find local bakers, makers, growers, brewers, and crafters, they are open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

When: Fridays and Saturdays 9:00 am – 5:00pm, and Sundays, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

8. RV SHOW & SALE AT WESTERNER PARK

Vellner Leisure Products will be having their RV sale. Find the best deals on new and pre-owned recreation vehicles.

9. CROSS COUNTRY SKIING  

Here in Red Deer, we are fortunate to have several spacious areas perfect foryour skiing experience. River Bend Golf and Recreation Area has 19 km ofgroomed cross-country ski trails surrounded by the beautiful Red Deer RiverValley with 4 km of lighted trails for evening runs. They also havecross-country ski rentals for the whole family if you want to try it out.

10. CANYON SKI HILL

Canyon Ski Hill is located just 10 minutes east of the city and is the largest non-mountain downhill ski resort in Alberta. The 28.6 hectare ski area has 20 runs, six lifts, lights for night skiing, a ski lodge, a large ski school, and equipment rentals. They also have a Snow Tube Park, located at the top of the hill complete with 6 groomed lanes.
