1. WINTER CARNIVAL AT BOWER PONDS

The Red Deer Winter Carnival is this weekend at Bower Ponds. Join ACFA of Red Deer to celebrate French-Canadian traditions on Friday, February 24, and Saturday, February 25. This event includes live music, dance, and traditional foods like pea soup, sugar pie, maple taffy, and more. UPDATE: Due to the extreme cold weather, ACFA Régionale de Red Deer is cancelling the Winter Carnival event on Friday, February 24. The event will proceed as scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2023

When: Friday, February 24, 2023 from 6- 10 pm and Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 10 am –6:30 pm.  
Where: Bower Ponds
Cost: Free  

2. RED DEER REBELS GAME

Cheer on the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, February 24 as they take on the Winnipeg Ice. They also play the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday, February 25. Both games start at 7:00 pm at the Peavey Mart Centrium.

3. PARKLAND GARDEN CENTRE WINTER MARKET

Parkland Garden Centre is hosting a Winter Mini Market every Saturday in January and February from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

When: Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 10:00 am  
Where: Parkland Garden Centre is located 3 minutes East of 30th Avenue, Red Deer on Highway 11 East.
Cost: Free

4. BULL SKIT COMEDY SHOWS

Bull Ski Comedy has two shows this weekend. Friday, February 24, 2023, Gays of our lives show will celebrate the diversity of our lives through humour and laughter. On Saturday, February 25, join them for their Maestro show, where players battle for the audience's laughs in hopes of getting the greatly desired $5 bill.

When: Friday, February 24, 2023, at 8 pm and Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 8 pm.  
Where: Scott Block Theatre
Cost: Tickets are $20

5. GASOLINE ALLEY FARMERS MARKET

Gasoline Alley Farmers’ Market is a vibrant indoor market open year-round in Red Deer County that celebrates local producers, artisans, and farmers from Alberta. They are open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, they welcome you to meet local bakers, makers, growers, brewers, and crafters.

When: Fridays and Saturdays 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, and Sundays, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

6. CANYON SKI HILL

Canyon Ski Resort is located just 10 minutes east of the city and is the largest non-mountain downhill ski resort in Alberta. The 28.6 hectare ski area has 20 runs, six lifts, lights for night skiing, a ski lodge, a large ski school, and equipment rentals. They also have a snow tube park at Canyon Ski Resort. The park is located at the top of the hill complete with 6 groomed lanes and you can book your tickets online.

7. RED DEER RV SHOW

The Red Deer RV Show is all things "camping, RV travel, outdoor activities" and much more. The show features five big RV dealers, selling many different lines and types of RVs, including trailers, fifth wheels, and motor homes, and the tools and gadgets to keep everything like new.

When: Friday Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 (10am-7pm) and Sun. Feb. 26 (10am-4pm)  
Where: Westerner Park  
Cost: General: $7.50, Senior: $6.00, Family of 4: $20.00, Children 6 and under: Free

8. RED DEER SPRING ROCK N’ GEM SHOW AT WESTERNER PARK  

The largest gem and mineral show in Canada is coming back to Red Deer. Peruse over 500 tables from around the world featuring an array of minerals, fossils, jewelry, gemstones, crystals, beads and so much more.  

When: Friday Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 (10am-8pm) and Sun. Feb. 26 (10am-5pm)  
Where: Westerner Park  
Cost: $2 per person or $5 per family
