Major events are returning to Central Alberta, and we’re so jazzed about it that we can hardly sit still! So we thought we would create a list of things to help you prepare for the excitement ahead. Check it out!
Purchase tickets ahead of time
Starting off with the obvious here! Purchase your tickets in advance instead of waiting in line at the door, when available. You’ll take the extra stress off of yourself on event day, and it helps event producers fund & manage their operations to produce a great event for you to enjoy!
Beware of scams and ticket scalpers. We always recommend you use the trusted ticket provider that is partnered with the event to ensure a fair and safe transaction experience.
Arrange travel and accommodation plans
Planning to stay overnight? Book ahead of time with our trusted accommodation partners! With 8 different hotels and campgrounds to chose from, there is always something nearby your Red Deer event venue.
- Baymont by Wyndham Red Deer
- Holiday Inn & Suites Red Deer South
- Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham
- iHotel & Conference Centre
- Trenville Park
- Westerner Campground
- Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre
- TownePlace Suites by Marriott Red Deer
If you’re planning to head back home after the event, make sure you have a safe ride. Arrange plans with friends and designate a sober driver or hop in a taxi or Uber to take you home. Never drink and drive, friends.
Organize your documents
Staying organized is where it’s at! No different from gathering your travel documents when you head to the airport, make sure you have all your docs in a row (see what we did there?) for the big event. If you’re unsure about what you’ll need, research the venue’s current policies and practices via their website or pick up the phone and call.
Scope out places to eat
Food is a big one! Full bellies make for happy experiences. With so many restaurants offering online menus, reservations and take-out options – it's never too early to start researching establishments worthy of your fork and knife.
Red Deer is home to a bustling restaurant scene with options for everyone. Take the time to scope out your future dining spots and make a reservation in advance to avoid the hunger and long wait times.
Dress to impress
We’ve been cooped up in our houses for longer than we’d like to say, so why not arrive to the event in style? Some major events in Red Deer are big on fashion (like the Canadian Finals Rodeo) and others are all about game-day swag.
Make sure you explore Red Deer's excellent retail stores and shopping malls before ordering anything online. With so many options, you’re sure to find the perfect piece to complete your event day look! Plus, it feels really good to shop small and support local businesses.
