7 Fun Ways to Keep Your Kids Busy during Easter Break | April 2022
1. Hurry on down to the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, which is located along Highway 2. Interactive games, sports memorabilia, and all of the sport-related fun await you at this renowned facility! This year they are also introducing e-scooters, e-bikes, and electric Fat bikes for rent, a great time to explore the wonderful trails located behind the building.
2. Collicutt Centre is fun for everyone. Scream down the water slides, soak in the hot tub, scale the climbing wall, or walk on the track with on-site childminding. Kids of all ages will enjoy spending the day floating along the lazy river, catching the next wave in the wave pool, or speeding down the twisty water slide.
3. Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (the MAG), showcases a variety of scheduled art and history-related exhibits. With an artifacts collection consisting of more than 90,000 objects representing donations by over 3,000 individuals from Red Deer and the surrounding area. Learn more about the incredible collection of local history for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy, all year long. Don’t forget on Monday, April 18 they will be hosting a free art project and scavenger hunt in the museum, so much fun.
4. Go for a hike with your family at the Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary, with five kilometres of trails, a bird blind, and viewing decks introducing you to the various habitats. You can also play in their unique outdoor music garden or explore Imagination grove Red Deer’s first outdoor classroom and natural learning play space at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. They will be also celebrating both Easter and Earth Day on Sunday, April 17, so don’t miss out on the festivities.
5. Golfzone is a state-of-the-art golf recreation and entertainment facility featuring the world’s best indoor golf simulator technology. This is a great week to enjoy the ever-popular sport of golf, a wonderful way to spend quality time with the kids.
6. Ctrl V in Red Deer is Canada’s first Virtual reality (VR) arcade, home to the most immersive gaming experience ever. The kids will have a blast as they explore new frontiers with their friends and try out one of the many games they have available. It is highly encouraged to book your space online however if you are going to walk in, they still recommend completing your waiver ahead of time.
7. Paintball anyone, this is the perfect time to get outdoors and join in the fun at Sylvan Lake Paintball. They even have a low-impact Paintball program, using smaller and lighter equipment perfect for kids under 12 as it eliminates the fear of being hit while providing the “real deal” experience. You can also participate in Laser Tag great for players 6-100, so join in the fun.
