Obstacle Course Races in Red Deer
1 – Polar Bear Dip – February 13
If jumping into an ice cold lake sounds like a thrill, Sylvan Lake might just have the opportunity you’ve been looking for. Join in the fun and take a Polar Bear Dip at this years’ Sylvan Lake Winterfest. Those brave enough can register for the dip – but be quick there’s only 50 spots available! If you’re not into jumping into freezing waters, the Winterfest offers many attractions to keep both young and old entertained.
2 – The Slush Cup – March (End of Season)
Canyon Ski Resort returns again this year with its 6th annual Slush Cup. Taking place at the end of March, participants launch their costumed bodies across an ice cold pond filled with snow, slush and ice in hopes of making to the other side bone dry. Judges determine who has completed the feat the best as there are prizes to be won. Take part in the exciting competition or just simply sit back and taken in all the craziness. Either way entry is free.
3 – Foam Fest – June 25
Grab your friends and let’s get foamy! Held at Heritage Ranch, Foam Fest is a one of a kind fun, exciting and challenging obstacle course race that invites both experienced runners and those just starting out to get out and enjoy themselves. Participates will experience 5km of obstacles, foam, fun and mud during the race. Get a team together or sign up at as individual – registration is now open. Red Deer is proud to be the only Alberta stop on the 2016 Foam Fest Canada circuit!
4 – Mud Hero Alberta – August 5-7
How does 6KM, 16+ obstacles, and a ton of mud sound? This August Red Deer and Canyon Ski Resort will host Mud Hero Alberta obstacle course race. Call up your friends and get a team together or simply register as an individual and take on the muddiest challenge you’ll ever face – seriously. Registration is now open, so pick your wave and start training. Red Deer is the only Mud Hero obstacle course race in Alberta in 2016!
5 – Spartan Race – Red Deer Super Canada – September 3
If you’re less about fun and games and more about a timed physical race the Spartan Race Super Canada might just be up your alley. Held at Heritage Ranch, the Super Canada Spartan Race is a 12+ km obstacle course race in which you are timed and compete against your peers. Those who complete the course the fastest should be done within 90 minutes whereas some of the slower runners will be out on the course for more than 3 hours. Good luck!
6 – Spartan Race Red Deer Sprint Canada – September 4
If 12+ kilometers is a little too intimidating for you how does 5 clicks sound? Heritage Ranch hosts the Spartan Race Sprint Canada event this September long weekend. Participants are encouraged to sign up as a team (minimum 4 members per team) but can sign up as individuals as well.
From jumping into frozen lakes to climbing over obstacles covered in foam – Red Deer, Alberta has something to challenge everyone this coming summer.
