Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel by train and have your journey abruptly halted by mounted gunmen? Well that is exactly what is likely to happen aboard Alberta Prairie’s excursion train at Stettler. Round-trip excursions are on board a vintage train, powered by a 1920 steam locomotive or a classic diesel locomotive from the 1950s. Passengers experience the scenery, history, and wildlife of the Prairies. Tours vary in length from 5-6 hours and include on board entertainment and buffet meal at hall in Big Valley. Started as little more than an idea, Alberta Prairie has grown to become one of Alberta’s premier tourist attractions. For the last 30 years people have come from all over the world to board the train to enjoy a unique Alberta Prairie experience. Fares vary depending on the length of excursion, inclusion, and age of guest.
