A family weekend getaway to Ramada Red Deer

Ramada Red Deer

After an hour and a half of squabbles and giggles in the backseat, we’re all ready to get to where we’re going. Just then we see it! Right there off the highway. A warm, clean, modern oasis from the car – a perfect place to kick up our feet and watch them go silly in the pool. And it’s all down to our good thinking when we booked a family getaway at the Ramada Red Deer.

An evening in

Ok, we got here. Check! Right away, we need to play their wiggles out on that curvy blue waterslide, while the adults melt into puddles of bliss in the hot tub. Check aaand check.

Having a slice

Then I guess we should feed them again. How about the one thing they’ll always eat? There’s local favourite Piccolo’s Pizza & Pasta (just four minutes away) or the tried-and-true option Boston Pizza (closest one to the hotel is just seven minutes away on Gaetz Ave).

Deluxe Family Suite

The Ramada Red Deer’s deluxe family suite has a separate room with bunk beds. This means that once the movie and microwave popcorn has quieted them and they’ve climbed drowsily into their beds, you two can fall asleep in a happy snuggle on an incredibly comfortable bed – a perfect family sleepcation.

A big day

Start this busy day full of wintertime fun with a hot complimentary breakfast from 6 – 10 am. Feast on fresh fruit and pastries, hot entrees, mix your own cereal and lots of coffee for Mom.

Nature discovery

Waskasoo’s multi-use trails stretch from one side of the city to the other, winding beside the Red Deer River. We’ll head across the river and down by Alberta’s oldest bird sanctuary, where critters play, to the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. There, we’ll go inside to warm up and take in some natural history interpretation and awe-inspiring exhibits.

Sleigh rides and twinkling lights

Head out to Heritage Ranch for a magical sleigh ride through 20,000+ twinkling winter lights and bask in the splendor of the starry night sky. As a bonus, hot chocolate and blankets are provided – making the experience that much better.

Hockey and hot dogs

The rowdy Rebels game is always an exciting time and you’re only a 12-minute drive to Westerner Park from the Ramada. A family pack to the game is $89 (for two adults and two kids) and includes four seats, four hot dogs, four pops and four chips – plus all that ultrafast hockey. Maybe we have time for a swim before we go – the pool is open 8 am to 10 pm. More fun is always better.

There you have it, a quick wintertime staycation weekend to Red Deer is easier than you think. Start planning a memorable wintertime family adventure to the Ramada Red Deer today!
