Check out what's happening this weekend in Red Deer and Central Alberta!

1. Food Truck Friday at Capstone this Friday, September 23 from 11 am – 2:00 pm. Spend your lunch hour down at Capstone for Food Truck Fridays! This is a great location with places to sit to enjoy your food and paths to walk with beautiful views of the Red Deer River. Capstone Night Market is also this Friday, September 23 from 5:00 – 10:00 pm at Canada 150 Square. Explore this unique outdoor market supporting local artisans, musicians, and food vendors. 2. The Red Deer Rock N' Gem Show is also at Westerner Park from September 23-October 2, 2022. This fun event is dedicated to the world of gemstones and minerals. Not only will you find a huge array of gemstones, beads, crystals, jewelry and fossils at the event, but you can participate in workshops, learn how to bead, flint knap, or wire wrap and even see the world's largest sapphire! 3. The Mesozoic Safari is at Westerner Park. This event is happening from September 23-October 2, 2022. They are bringing some of the past's most legendary animals back to life in this 10 day long interactive exhibit. Take a walk through our prehistoric jungle to find your way to 17 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, Interactive programs, classes, scavenger hunts, guest speakers and so much more. 4. Cheer on the Red Deer Rebels at their home opener this Saturday, September 24 as they take on the Edmonton Oil Kings. The doors open at 6:00 pm and the puck drops at 7:00 pm. Click here for tickets and more information.

5. The Lacombe Culture and Harvest Festival is happening from Friday, September 23 to Sunday, September 25, 2022. This year's events will be kicked off with a barn dance on Friday night. There will also be plenty of cultural performances, artistic demonstrations, a living artisan market, and agricultural demonstrations planned all weekend long. 6. The Red Deer Regional Airport presents Girls in Aviation Day 2022 on Saturday, September 24 from 12:00-4:00 pm. The event brings all things aviation to one place so the community may learn about the industry. For girls to leave with a vision of careers, and access to information and pathways to broaden their awareness of all careers in aviation. Click here for more information.

7. The cool fall days bring warm family fun to Parkland Mall. Visit them on Saturday, September 24, 2022, for one of three 30-minute Magic Shows at noon, 1:30 pm, or 3:00 pm presented by Christopher Cool magician. 8. Bo’s Bar and Stage presents Monowhales Live on September 23, 2022. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the show starts at 8:00 pm. Click here for more information.  

9. Join Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery for a one hour guided historical walking tour of the Ghost Sculptures in downtown Red Deer. Free to attend, donations are appreciated. This is an outdoor program and is dependent on the weather. Click here to register.

10. Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery are hosting MAGnificent Saturdays for the month of September. Saturday, September 24 is Low Relief Landscapes. Using cardboard, we will create a monochromatic low relief landscape.

12. RV Wars is happening this weekend at Westerner Park. Shop for your next RV at RV Wars from September 22nd - 25th at Westerner Park. Multiple dealers, tons of inventory, all in one convenient location.

13. Central Alberta Wedding Expo is Sunday, September 25 at the Harvest Centre at Westerner Park. Find wedding experts to plan your dream wedding. This fabulous event will feature a diverse group of wedding professionals, ranging from all different disciplines. We will have door prizes; booth prizes and our experts will have different sales going on.

14. Visit Sylvan Lake invites you to their Flannel and Feast event. Enjoy arts, music, food, and entertainment that celebrates the laid-back cabin lifestyle that is quintessentially Sylvan Lake. Part of Alberta Culture Days, this family-friendly event features food trucks, a petting zoo, Wood Shed axe throwing, a pig roast, Snake Lake beer gardens, a market, mobile escape room, live entertainment by Him & Her and Boots and The Hoots and more.
