Looking for some fun entertainment this weekend, then look no further. Here is a list of some of the great things we have to offer in and around Red Deer’s backyard.

There is always something happening at Capstone, so why not head over for their open story experience, check out the unique art installations, take in the Country Pride Dance demo Friday Night or perhaps Bard in the Big Top Saturday afternoon. The Common Ground Garden Project also welcomes people to come and enjoy live music, food and spend time in the garden Friday night from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm, located right beside Troubled Monk Brewery. Feel free to bring chairs or blankets with you for good music seats. So much is happening at Capstone, so make sure you don’t miss it.

Join the Harvard Historical Aviation Society this Saturday for a day of fun and history at the Springbank airport from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be free popcorn, Mini Harvard’s for the kids to play on, Tiger Moth bi-plane restoration project and more. The Museum will be open all day, and a history of the Canadian Forces base Penhold presentation will be happening at 1:30 pm.

Randi Boulton is performing at the Parkland Garden Centre this Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:15 pm. Her soulful vocals are an experience music lovers won’t soon forget. Tickets are $20 per person, $35 per couple or $75 for a family of up to 6, purchase your tickets by calling 403=346-5613, and there is free seating, so please bring your chair or blanket.

The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame hosts the Red Deer Tennis Club this Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be demonstrations and information, so come on down and check it out.

Come down to the Crossroads Church parking lot this Saturday for a Free Outdoor Movie Under the Stars.  They will be showing the Pixar animated hit Inside Out, and there will be a toonie concession for popcorn, drinks and pizza and some fun games before the movie starts at sunset (approx 8:45 pm). Bring a blanket and the whole family to enjoy this event in support of mental health services provided by the CMHA Central Alberta.

If you haven’t been down to Bower Ponds for Bard on Bower, this weekend would be a perfect time. They will be performing both Much to do about Nothing Saturday at 7:00 pm and a Comedy of Errors Friday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 1:00 pm, Shakespearean comedy at its best. Take in the paddleboats, canoes or kayaks for a great day at the ponds.

Bo’s Bar and Stage has some epic entertainment for you with The Best Summer Ever Bash Saturday, August 21, presented by OH Deer and Troubled Tea as you take in OH Deer Live Podcast Party. Tickets are $20, plus a service charge, and can be purchased by going to Eventbrite.

If you like ball hockey, why not head out to Sylvan lake this weekend for their Battle at the Beach Ball Hockey Tournament. Cheer the kids on as they battle it out on the ball hockey rinks set up outdoors at Lakeshore Drive & 44 Street Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am- 5:00 pm. No cars, no trucks, & no traffic, just some good old-fashioned Street Hockey fun.

This Saturday, head down to Gasoline Alley for the Gasoline Alley Car Show presented by S&N Diesel and Mudders Wash. They will be having a multi-class car show/dyno event/burnout pit. There will be lots of prizes for different categories, food trucks, music, and a whole ton of wicked cars. This event is not only for diesel but for gas too. New, old, rat rod, muscle car, motorbikes, gas, diesel, you name it!! Some prominent vendors will be set up with booths to show off their products, chat about fantastic new products and have a good time. Saturday, August 21, the start time will be 11:00 am, and they will wrap it up by 4:00 pm.
