How does an evening browsing a farmers’ market for fresh local foods and crafts sound?

Starting Friday, May 20th, the Sylvan Lake Farmers’ Market will be open again for the season and serve up some of the area’s finest fresh fruits and veggies. In the same location as last year, the Sylvan Lake Farmers’ Market is held at Railway Park Promenade-North, and run from 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM every Friday until October 7.

The farmers’ market features locally grown goodness like greenhouse tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. Vendors have fresh cheese, meats and there’s even wine available. There’ll be prepared food such as frozen cabbage rolls, perogies, spring rolls as well as baked goods and preserves.

The Sylvan Lake Farmers’ Market isn’t just about locally grown food either. Vendors showcase jewellery, homemade cards, soaps and lotions, candles, knitting, and wood crafts. Browse up and down the aisles and taken in the experience the joys of supporting and shopping locally.

Picnic in the Park

Unlike other farmers’ markets, Sylvan Lake’s runs Friday evenings throughout the summer, making a perfect opportunity to hit up the market, grab some supplies and head over to Centennial Park along the lake for a picnic!

You can’t get much fresher than the food available at a farmers’ market, so what better way to kick off the weekend than with views of the lake and a freshly prepared meal? Grab the friends or family, head over to the farmers’ market, and have a picnic at Centennial Park .

With the backdrop of Sylvan Lake behind you, picnic tables and BBQ extensions make Centennial Park perfect for family gatherings. Bring your charcoal and spark up the BBQs that are provided or bring your hibachi and enjoy good company, good food, with a spectacular view of the lake.

If you’re gathering is a little larger, Centennial Park also offers picnic shelters which can be booked for family reunions, birthday parties, or the like. There’s also an excellent playground to help keep the little ones busy and entertained.

With plenty of parking and two washrooms, Centennial Park has all the amenities you’ll need for a stellar picnic with locally grown and fresh produce, baked goods, and meats from the farmers’ market.

Sylvan Lake is a beautiful summertime destination and there’s plenty to get up to after the picnic has wrapped up. Take a stroll along the lakeside, hit up a patio, or explore some of the shops in town.
