Sylvan Lake: A Destination for All Seasons

Sylvan Lake Winter

Many people flood the town of Sylvan Lake in the summer months, it is one of the most popular recreation destinations in Alberta. Don’t underestimate it as a destination for the cooler months though, there is also plenty to do in the fall and winter.

For the relaxation type

Yoga is a great way to relax physically, mentally and spiritually. Sylvan Lake has two yoga studios that offer a plethora of different styles and levels.

Studio Upstairs Yoga & Wellness offers various styles of yoga from aerial to parental, as well as therapeutic massage. This is a unique opportunity to connect with yourself and the Sylvan Lake community.

Blyss Hot Yoga gives you an opportunity to stretch, sweat and breathe your way to a healthier you. Hot yoga is a unique full body workout experience.

For the land lover

Who says trail bike riding can only be done in the summer months? Winter riding is quickly growing into a favorite past time among Albertans. All you need is a fatbike and you’re set. Fatbikes were originally built for snow and sand dunes, but now they are often used year-round. If you don’t have your own set of wheels you can pop into any one of the local bike shops Sylvan Lake has to offer – whether you’re looking to rent or buy. Visit Cast Away Source for Sports for information on bikes and trails. Hiking is another great local fall and winter activity, that can be done with a group or alone. Jarvis Bay is a ten-minute drive away and has an abundance of activities like snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

If ice skating is more your forte, the Sylvan Lake Multi-Plex is available for leisurely skates from mid September to March, or if the conditions are right – head out on the lake.

If indoor activities are more your style, the Incline Industry Indoor Skate & BMX Park is the place to be.
