Membership Spotlight | Town of Penhold

Find out what makes the Town of Penhold such a great community. This small town is conveniently located just a few minutes south of Red Deer. We interviewed Carrie Black, Communications & Events Coordinator for the Town of Penhold below.  

1. Tell us about your municipality?

Penhold is a young, friendly, and vibrant community tucked in between HWY2A and the QEII HWY just 10 km south of Red Deer. Our growing community offers recreation amenities and has a wide variety of businesses including a grocery store, pharmacy, hardware store, and many choices for a delicious meal or treat.

2. What makes you different, unique, or stand out?

Penhold is a vibrant community with an abundance of recreational amenities for all to enjoy. There is a variety of trails and walking paths to enjoy as well as six playgrounds, including the Accessible & Inclusive Critters Corner playground, Splash Park, Multi-Use All-Wheel Park (MAP) Pump Track / Skate Park and the Penhold Regional Multiplex.

3. What can guests (local or visiting) expect to experience?

Penhold welcomes visitors to our beautiful community. Take a walk on the trails, enjoy the splash park, bring your bike, scooter or skateboard, and check out the Pump Track / Skate Park. Our growing variety of businesses are looking forward to showing you a warm welcome and the Penhold RV Park is a wonderful place to use as a home base while you explore Central Alberta.

4. What is new or upcoming?

Work is now underway to develop Penhold’s Community Hub south of the Penhold Multiplex that will include more walking paths, washrooms, a gazebo, and a second ball diamond. Penhold hosts many community events each year, the largest of which is the Fall Festival. This year’s Fall Festival will have our annual Craft Beer, Wine & Spirits Festival on Friday, Sept 9, followed by a day full of activities including a pancakes breakfast, parade, petting zoo, Kids Korner, outdoor market, food trucks, and more on Saturday, Sept. 10.
