‍Find out what makes Parkland Garden Centre one of the great attractions in Central Alberta. The sprawling gardens and bountiful flowers make this garden centre a nature lover’s dream. They also have a gift shop, Christmas markets, and their annual ice sculpture display.

1. Tell us about your company?

Parkland Nurseries & Garden Centre Ltd. has been serving Central Alberta for over 40 years. As a past Tourism Business of the Year recipient, and many other awards, we pride ourselves on being a destination centre.

2. What makes you different, unique, or stand out?

The 3-minute drive East of Red Deer on Highway 11 transports you into a world of plants, unique garden accessories, and gift ideas. Beautiful display gardens provide a perfect setting for year-round events and courses. Shop for unique Christmas gifts at our market sales. Come and see our wonderful Ice Sculptures set-up mid-December, weather permitting. Bring the whole family, it is worth the special visit!

‍3. Tell us about the background of your business?

Gloria started in the industry in the late 70’s while working with her father, Earl Beck, and her brother Dwayne Beck. In 1982, Dwayne and Gloria purchased the nursery/garden centre from their father and decided to make Parkland Nurseries & Garden Centre Ltd. a year-round operation. The addition of greenhouses and large tree and perennial lots made it possible to carry a wide selection of quality plant materials for the discriminating gardener. They later split the company and now Gloria owns the retail garden centre.

4. What can guests (local or visiting) expect to experience?

Today, Parkland Nurseries & Garden Centre Ltd. is a large retail garden centre in Central Alberta with greenhouse production, landscape design, perennial production, outdoor plant area, tropical house with unique plants and an extensive array of garden supplies and giftware.

5. What is new or upcoming?  

Parkland Garden Centre is always hosting events, on Saturday, August 20, they are hosting a “Family Fun Garden Day”. On Saturday, September 10 they are hosting “Art in the Garden.”
