Eleanor Sugarman wins an Air Canada travel prize pack.
This past summer, Tourism Red Deer encouraged Central Albertans to invite their friends and family to visit Red Deer by sending out a digital invitation postcard. Every invitation sent was entered into a draw to win an Air Canada travel prize package to bring friends or family to Red Deer.
The contest was designed to ignite pride and passion for the wonderful tourism opportunities in Central Alberta. The message was that there’s a lot going on in the Red Deer region and summer is a great time to invite friends and family to come for a visit.
Hundreds of Central Albertans entered the contest and invited their friends and family to Red Deer. On October 7, the draw was made from the many entries received and Eleanor Sugarman was selected as the grand prize winner. “It’s such an amazing prize and I was so surprised and thrilled to win it,” she said. “I won a door prize once at a Kinsman Club event in 1984, but this is definitely the biggest thing I’ve ever won.”
Sugarman plans to use the prize to bring her daughter Lana Sugarman and her boyfriend Craig Wise to Red Deer from Toronto. Lana has been to Red Deer many times, but she has never flown into the Red Deer Regional Airport before. Her fiancé, Craig has never been to Red Deer and the Sugarmans are looking forward to showing him around. “It will be so convenient to pick them up at the Red Deer Regional Airport instead of driving all the way to Calgary,” said Eleanor.
Eleanor and her husband Dr. Robert Sugarman have lived in Red Deer since 1984. Eleanor is an active volunteer on the board of Spinal Cord Injury Alberta, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital and with the Bethany Care Society. The draw was random, but it just goes to show that good things come to good people.
Tourism Red Deer thanks our campaign partners: Air Canada, Red Deer Airport, Red Deer Advocate and Travel Alberta.
