Where the West was Fun
Agriculture is at our heart and raw western heritage is in our soul. Here in Central Alberta, we celebrate the real west with great events like the Westerner Days, the Ponoka Stampede, Innisfail Rodeo and Agri- trade.
Our Biggest Outdoor Party
Westerner Days is Central Alberta’s largest summer celebration. More than 30,000 people line the streets of downtown Red Deer every July for the annual parade that kicks everything off. Midway rides, free concerts and entertainment, nightly Pony Chuckwagon Races, agricultural exhibits and arts shows are all part of the fun.
Big Time Thrills
Rural rodeo is the place where champions are born and bred and Central Alberta has some of the best small town rodeos in North America. The Innisfail Professional Rodeo and the Ponoka Stampede are two of the best small town rodeos anywhere. Visitors to either rodeo pay a low ticket price to sit close up and watch intense action that includes everything from chuckwagon races to steer wrestling, saddle bronc, barrel racing and bull riding. Parades, concerts, midways, country dances and agricultural exhibits are part of the fun off the rodeo grounds.
Biggest and Best
Western Canada’s biggest agricultural trade show takes place in Red Deer each November and visitors travel from across Canada to attend. Agritrade is a four-day event that features agricultural exhibits, innovations, equipment displays and presentations from agricultural experts.
