Library Lovers Month
All month long
This is the time of year to celebrate libraries and all the things you love about them. Not only is it a place to discover new books to read but it has quiet reading and writing spaces you can work in, computer zones with internet access, community posting boards, poetry readings, kids, teen and adult programs, places to gather, and areas for art or presentations. So why not come to our downtown branch with your child and help build a Lego City on February 2, or maybe your kids would like to participate in a Harry Potter Escape Room at our Timberland branch February 2 or at the Dawe on February 9. If you love poetry then try checking out their Breathing in Poetry class at our downtown branch on February 5, just don’t forget to bring your yoga mat, a pillow, and a tea mug. A little something for everyone that is what our libraries have to offer, so come on down, take a class, go to a presentation, or just curl up in one of their comfy chairs with a good book and enjoy.
Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on February 14 and is recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance in many regions around the world. Here in Red Deer you can celebrate the day by dining at one of our many fine restaurants like the La Casa Pergola for some fine Italian cuisine or if steak is what fires up your love one then One Eleven Grill is sure to please. A romantic night at one of our many beautiful hotels like The Radisson or The Sheraton is also a great gift, combine it with a sleigh ride at Heritage Ranch and you have the perfect Valentine’s Day.
Drink Wine Day
Ah, a day to celebrate this noble drink that has been around for thousands of years. In fact there are even gods devoted to wine in ancient Greek and Roman mythology. In Red Deer, we have many fine wines and what’s better then popping into one of our many lounges like Tiffany’s or Boulevard Restaurant + Lounge for a glass or two. If you’re looking for a full night out then many of our restaurants like The Keg Restaurant & Bar or The Westlake Grill will have extensive wine list to go along with your fine dining. Whatever the occasion, there is probably a wine to go with it, so celebrate this day and drink wine.
