International Coffee Day
International Coffee Day is a great time to celebrate the farmers, traders, roasters and baristas worldwide for creating the coffees that are enjoyed by so many people. In Red Deer we can honour these people by popping into one of our lovely cafes like Meeting Waters Coffee + Roastery for an Americano or Latte. Dose Coffee Company is another great place to enjoy a cup of Java with two locations Riverlands or downtown. If you’re looking for that full immersive experience games, comics and coffee then try Chronicles Comics and Cafe, so much fun. These are just a few of the wonderful coffee places we have here in Red Deer, so head out with friends and enjoy a cup or two.
It’s Taco Day, a great time to celebrate the culinary fiesta that is a taco…loved and consumed by millions each day and made in either soft or hard shells with a variety of savoury fillings. In Red Deer we can gather the family and celebrate by checking out the many great venues that serve this delicious entree. You might want to check Las Palmeras out for dinner, with their casual atmosphere, warm gracious service and wonderful Tacos de Carnitas or possible their Salmon Tacos, delicious. The Old Mexican Taco Buffet is another great place to stop in, with their authentic traditional Mexican cuisine and yes you can make your own Tacos too. The North end of Red Deer houses Jose Jose Latin Restaurant their taco crispy will have you coming back for more. Whether, its breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a light snack, try a taco and enjoy.

Parkland Pavilion For those who love rocks minerals, and fossils come on down to Rocktober. It is the largest event of its kind in Western Canada featuring gemstones, minerals, fossils, crystals, jewelry, beads, findings, and one of kind specimens. This is a great event for all ages to explore the geologist in all of us and best of all tickets are free.
We’re mid-way through the fall season and a celebration is just what we need for some fall fun! Join them and enjoy all that The Jungle Farm offers as well as a great local band, scarecrow building, and more!
Come on down for Fanatullen’s 35th Anniversary Banquet and Dance in conjunction with our three day Scandinavian Folk Dance Workshop happening October 4 – 6 at Festival Hall. This event is catered by Blue Sage Kitchen, starting at 6:00 pm, a performance by our instructors at 7:00 pm with the dance to follow. Rock The Rink will feature Canadian figure skating greats, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond and Elvis Stojko. The show will also be bringing some world-renowned skating talent from Europe and the U.S. Italian Olympic Medalist and World Champion, Carolina Kostner, will tour in North America for the first time, while Olympic Medalist and four time U.S. National Champion, Jeremy Abbott, will return to Canadian touring for the first time in seven years. Combining the highest level of on-ice superstar talent with an ever-evolving touring production, Rock The Rink will produce the highest value of entertainment. This year – along with upgrades to lighting, video and interactive technology – live music will be introduced to the show, with featured special musical guest, Birds of Bellwoods. Join the Red Deer & District Kennel Club for the Fall 2019 RDDKC All Breed Dog Show held Thanksgiving Weekend in the new Exhibition Pavilion at Westerner Park! It’s going to be awesome – don’t miss it! Admission is $10 for adult, children $5 and family of four $25. Children 4 and under and seniors 65 plus are free.
Quick Times Swap meet is an indoor automotive swap meet, hot rod performance, muscle car and racing cars, parts, memorabilia, apparel and so much more! If you have been here, you know, and if you haven’t you should. One day only, Saturday October 12 at the Prairie and Parkland Pavilion in Westerner Park from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, admission is $10.00 and tickets can be purchased at the door.

It’s time to reinvent, renovate and redecorate at the Red Deer Fall Home Show happening October 18 – 20. Home Builders, renovators, trades, suppliers, designers, educational sessions and so much more. Whether you’re looking to freshen your decor, renovate what you have or build a new house, we have information for you. It will be located in the new Exhibition Hall at the Westerner. Admission is $6 for Adults $4 for students and seniors and Children 12 and under are free. Seniors are free from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Friday, October 18 only.

AgriCentre Westerner Park
Why not come on down to Western Canada’s largest dairy show and sale. Event highlights include the Central Alberta Holstein Club Sale, the Youth Show, the Jersey Show and the Holstein Show. A valuable part of the Westerner Park’s agricultural history since 1954, this is a show not to be missed.
Based on the original German Oktoberfest, Canyon Oktoberfest is a celebration of local community and local beer! Come dressed up in your Lederhosen or Drindl dress to this fun, social event featuring live music from The Jordan Rody Band, local craft beers from Blindman Brewing, and authentic German Cuisine. The lodge will be transformed into the Blindman Bierhaus! This is a family friendly event and there will be prizes for those dressed up. Prairie Pavilion Westerner
This is a health and wellness expo that includes alternative healing practices, physical, metaphysical, spiritual, nutritional, environmental, holistic and more. So come on out for a great day filled with new experiences, presentations, demonstrations and entertainment. Tickets can be purchased online, a weekend combo is $24 adults, $11 senior/student or a day pass is 12 for adults, $7 for seniors/students and those under 12 free if accompanied by an adult.

Our Best to You Canadian Handmade market is back in Red Deer and with Christmas in the air this is the perfect time to get your shopping started. There will be over 200 top Canadian artists, artisans and designers displaying their incredible work all for a truly unique and interactive shopping experience. The 46th Canadian Finals Rodeo returns to Red Deer, where the very best rodeo athletes and fans from around the world will come together to witness champions competing for the top prize! CFR 46 is from October 29 to November 3, 2019, with seven performances taking place inside the Centrium at Westerner Park. There will be many events happening at the Westerner as well as throughout Red Deer. PIGS: Canada’s Pink Floyd are hitting the road in the fall of 2019 to thrill audiences across North America on their In The Flesh Tour. PIGS deliver the music of one of the greatest bands of all time with exacting precision certain to delight and amaze every Pink Floyd fanatic. Come join the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra at the Red Deer College Arts Centre on October 5 at 8:00 pm to hear music from Canada, Russia, Finland and Norway. Though conceived in icy cold climates, don’t be fooled – this music is still full of warmth. The first concert of the season will feature the newly appointed principal cellist of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Arnold Choi, in the highly demanding and exciting Sinfonia Concertante by Prokofiev. Rock & Roll of Famer John Fogerty is returning to Westerner Park Centrium, Thursday, October 17 with My 50 Year Trip Tour. The concert celebrates the iconic musician’s half-century onstage and perhaps his best know performance Woodstock. The Red Deer City Soccer Association would like to invite you to join them for their 1st edition of The Red Deer Harvest Cup, an outdoor 11v11 tournament for U13, U15, and U17 boys and girls a provincial elite Tier 1 competition between the highest ranked teams in Alberta. The CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run that is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause. The CIBC Run for the Cure will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2019 in 57 communities across Canada, including in Red Deer, Alberta at Bower Ponds – 4707 Fountain Dr. The event begins at 8:00 am.
