World Kindness Day

November 13th
What a great day to not only celebrate but to engage in those random acts of kindness to help promote and make this world a better place. In Red Deer we have so many opportunities to help and a great way is to checkout out our Volunteer Central website. There are so many opportunities like volunteering for the Canadian Winter Games, or helping out at The Mustard Seed just to name a few. So come together and celebrate, engage and enjoy World Kindness Day, just a little smile can go a long way.

Fast Food Day

November 16th
Who doesn’t secretly love Fast Food, quick, tasty, highly addictive and to the busy people of the world it has been their lifesaver. Whether you are rushing your kids to soccer practice after school and need to make a quick stop at The Donut Mill or you are too tired after work and only Papa Baldy’s Pizza will do. Red Deer has a multitude of great fast food joints, and today would be a great time to check one out.

Take a Hike Day

November 17th
We all need a little time to ourselves, to reconnect with nature and what’s better than going for a hike. In Red Deer we have over 110 kilometers of hard and soft trails surrounded by beautiful parks and river valleys. In fact, we can be described as a city within a park with places like The Maskepetoon Park an ecological gem. We even clear 23km of those trails every winter so you can still get out and enjoy the outdoors. So what ever the need may be, take a hike and discover the beauty of Red Deer.

Cake Day

November 26th
When there is any type of major celebration like a birthday, wedding, or anniversary the cake has always taken centre stage. So let’s celebrate this rich and delicious treat by checking out the many places in Red deer where you can indulge, be it Sweet Capone’s on 67th Street for some Italian Carrot cake or T’s Bakery and Cafe where you can special order a cake to your liking. Sugar by Tracy’s Coffee & Sweets in Penhold is another great spot with such delights as Lavender cake or a mouth-watering Orange Chai cake. So take this day, enjoy and remember you can have your cake and eat it too.

CFR 45: Canadian Finals Rodeo

October 30th – November 4th
Westerner Park, 4847A 19 Street
This is the time to dust off your cowboy hats, don on your best jeans and celebrate in this fast paced exciting event of the year The CFR. There will be exciting Rodeo events from Bareback Riding to Steer Wrestling as well as nightly CFR cabarets featuring top entertainers like Megan Patrick. A delicious pancake breakfast will be featured every morning from 8-10 at the Parkland Pavilion alongside many other onsite events from the CFR Tradeshow to the Canadian Championship Dummy Roping just to name a few.

First Friday Red Deer

November 2nd
Downtown Red Deer
On the first Friday of every month, join the galleries in downtown Red Deer in celebrating local, regional and national artistic talent. The galleries buzz with art experiences, open gallery spaces, social mingling and maybe some entertainment. Suitable for adults, youth, families, date nights, music lovers, culture-vultures and anyone who enjoys kicking off their weekend with a Friday night party. First Friday Red Deer is becoming a staple in the local culture diet. This event is free to attend.

Rock Your Bump

November 3rd

Kitchen Party with Canadian Fiddler Calvin Vollrath & Friends

November 5th

What a great time to come on down to the MAG and enjoy a evening of top tapping, hand clapping fiddle music with award winning Calvin Vollrath. To keep the party going is Jeremy Rusu at the piano and step dancer Rhea Labrie. This is going to be a really fun night so don’t forget to get those tickets soon.

Agri-Trade Equipment Expo

It’s that time of year for the annual Agri-Trade Equipment Expo considered to be one of the best farm equipment shows to do business at in North America. It is the host to 470 exhibitors representing the very best in agriculture equipment, technology, services, and products.

Bull Prov: Bull Skit Comedy

Red Aces Swing Dance Social

Cornerstone Youth Theatre presents Annie the Musical based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray. Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. This beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including “Tomorrow.” It is a great show perfect for families and friends of all ages.

3rd Annual Favourite Things Fashion Show

November 10th

The 3rd Annual Bra Lounge Favourite Things Fashion Show in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada is going to be full of empowering moments showcasing real women overcoming real life events, including breast cancer warriors. There will be entertainment by Chair Tease Dance and Randi Boulton, as well as a VIP cocktail hour. So come on down and support a great cause!

Pyjamas & Pearls Fundraiser

November 10th

Join Soroptimist International of Central Alberta for their annual fundraiser and party in your pyjamas and pearls. It is a fun filled event with Lip Sync Battles, Raffles,silent auction, dancing and more. Cocktails are at 6pm, dinner at 7pm and the entertainment will be the Funhouse Dance Band. . Raise the Woof: Central Alberta Humane Society

Raise the Woof is an outstanding night of comedy in support of shelter animals awaiting their fur-ever home this Christmas! Red Deer Lights The Night

November 17th
City Hall Park
Celebrate the holiday season and take in the annual light up of beautiful City Hall Park. Enjoy popcorn, hot chocolate, kids activities and live entertainment by Alecia Aichelle. You can also cozy up in the warming tent, shop the winter market and visit Santa. Proudly presented by Stantec and hosted by the City of Red Deer and Downtown Red Deer, this event is free to attend and family friendly.

Singing the Dream: Hearts of Harmony

November 17th
Red Deer Memorial Centre, 4214 58 Street
Hearts of Harmony Chorus is a group of Central Alberta women who love to sing four-part harmony, barbershop style. The show highlights their current repertoire as well as their Christmas music, which has never been performed in a show format.

Westerner Park Christmas Artisan Market

The Westerner Park Christmas Artisan Market is about giving back to the community with food and charity donations, while shopping for your Christmas list with unique local vendors that range from creative art, food and electronic devices. Friday night’s VIP experience is not to be missed with food, wine and spirit samples while you shop locally.
Saturday bring your skates and helmet to enjoy public skating with a $2 donation for the Red Deer Food Bank.
