National Relaxation Day
Take the day off from your regular routine on National Relaxation Day. Grab (or rent) an inner tube at Discovery Canyon and take a float down their natural lazy river.

2018 marks the 16th annual Jazz at the Lake Festival. This year features award-winning Canadian pianist/vocalist Laila Biali and performances by this year’s Project Discovery winners.
August 18 to 22
This is the Danish Canadian Museum’s biggest event of the year! Visitors can tour the Viking encampment, showing living accommodations, cooking methods, and crafts. You will also see Viking warriors demonstrate the use of swords, shields, axes and archery. A favourite for everyone is the battle with the Vikings, where children are given “swords” to fight it out with the mighty, fearsome Vikings. This is family-oriented event, with face-painting, Viking costume dress-ups, and telling of Hans Christian Andersen stories. Vendors set up tables around the site to sell their crafts and articles with a Scandinavian flavour. Visitors can enjoy lunch at the Saga Café (reservation required), or have a Danish hot dog, Danish desserts, old time soft drinks or other confections outside.

The spectacle of Mud Hero is like no other! Mud Hero’s course will get your adrenaline and blood pumping. With DJs, live bands, cash BBQ, sponsor give-aways, live demos and alcohol/non-alcohol drinks, enjoy the festivities as you cheer your fellow Mud Heroes on to the finish.
The Red Deer Association for Bicycle Commuting will be hosting the first ever Cyclovia event in downtown Red Deer. The event gives participants a safe and easy way to enjoy a car free experience in downtown Red Deer. Downtown activities will include food trucks, open restaurants and cafes, active living association booths, bicycle repair demos, bicycle helmet fittings, and more.
Inaugural Cycling Learning Journey provides a unique two-wheel view of the Red Deer River watershed, highlighting a few of the special places and people in our watershed in celebration of Water Quality Awareness Month! Stops along the tour will include presentations and talks from stewardship groups working to keep the watershed healthy, dynamic and sustainable.
