Thanksgiving Weekend

Westlake Grill

October 12 – 14
Westlake Grill at Heritage Ranch is hosting a Thanksgiving Buffet Brunch Sunday, October 13 with four seatings between 10:30 am and 3:00 pm. They will also have a five course Thanksgiving Dinner with three seatings from October 12 to the 14, from 5:00 – 7:00pm. Checkout their website for more details.

Boulevard Restaurant and Lounge

October 14
Boulevard Restaurant and Lounge will be having a Thanksgiving style dinner service from 5:00 pm till 10:00 pm on Monday, October 14. There will be a three course dinner service which will comprise of salad, turkey dinner and dessert for $35.00. Reservations are recommended so don’t forget to call ahead of time! There is also a Thanksgiving dinner to-go option for those wanting to eat at home. Boulevard’s Turkey-to-Go dinners come served with stuffing, cranberry sauce, baked yams, seasonal vegetables, pan gravy, and choice of garlic mashed or roasted potatoes and pumpkin pie or sticky toffee pudding. October is a great month for all things Halloween and the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery is the place to be:

  • Try making a Halloween lantern on Saturday, October 19 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • Create your own Beasty Box Feet on Wednesday, October 23 from 9:30 -11:00 am
  • Fling open the cabinets, bring your own materials, and let’s make costumes on Saturday, October 26 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Spooky Spooky Skeletons to be made on Wednesday, October 30 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Try your hand at Not-So-Itsy-Bitsy Spiders on Wednesday, October 30 from 9:30 am – 11:00 am.

These are a few things happening at the museum so check it out and have a Halloweeny good time.

29th Annual Zed Haunted House

October 16 – 31
Adorn a costume, grab some friends, and join us for the annual Zed Haunted House! This fun and interactive haunted attraction is a Red Deer favourite for getting in some spooks and scares during the last two weeks of October. All proceeds from the event go toward the Boys and Girls Club of Red Deer & District. Come test your fear factor and support a worthy cause! Check out their website or Facebook page for updates.

The Jungle Farm

  • New Moon Maze on Friday, October 25
    Join us for our last night time adventure in our corn maze. Bring your warm clothes, mitts, glow sticks and flashlights to find your way through our maze! This marks our last night that our corn maze will open for 2019! Open 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm.
  • Extreme Power Tools Pumpkin Carving on Saturday, October 26 + Sunday, October 27
    Love the pumpkin carving but hate the mess? Why not leave that all behind and come out to The Jungle Farm where they take pumpkin carving to a whole new extreme. They provide the power tools, pumpkins, and patterns so you can concentrate on just having a good time. This is a great Halloween family event and afterwards you can enjoy the last weekend of the season while they clean up the mess.

Hans Christen Andersons Haunted Fairytale Forest

Join the Danish Canadian Museum from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm for some fairytale family Halloween fun! Warm up in the cafe with good food and warm drinks and atmosphere.

Spooktacular Extravaganza at Sylvan Lake

Calling all witches, ghosts, and ghouls! Join Sylvan Lake for their annual Spooktacular Extravaganza on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Multi-Campus Gyms from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to wear their costumes and participate in the fun. There will be inflatables, spooky things and best of all candy! This event is free but food bank donations are welcome.

Halloween Half/10k/5k Marathon

October 26
On Saturday, October 26, Platinum Racing is hosting the Halloween Half marathon starting at the Bower Ponds outdoor stage at 8am. An event for all ages and abilities where athletes will enjoy the precise organization and execution of a Platinum Racing event, all with a laid back atmosphere!  Our awesome volunteers make the day fun by ensuring you stay on course and cheer you on! This is an inexpensive chip timed event giving runners the opportunity to participate without breaking the bank. To keep it affordable for all participants you will receive a timing chip, snacks and water at the finish line but no formal food or event swag will be provided. Get registered today. It’s only $25-$35!

Halloween Spooktacular

Get your “ghostly” game face on at the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday, October 31 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm or 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Fang-tastic Fun, Ghoulish Games & Tons of Trick or Treating. Be sure to try out the museum’s interactive sports exhibits and climbing wall while getting your “spook” on. Admission is $3 per adult $2 per child (3+) costumes are optional.

Trade Show Trick of Treat

This year, Halloween falls on the Thursday of the 46th Canadian Finals Rodeo. Trade Show Trick of Treat is our way of embracing the fun with a western twist. Dress up and tour the Trade Show with your family to find complimentary treats and some of our amazing exhibitors.

The official Trade Show of the Canadian Finals Rodeo brings together the very best in western fashion with products and demonstrations from some of Canada’s top vendors. Hosted in the brand new Exhibition Hall, Stockmens Pavilion, and Agricentre West (Westerner Park), the 2019 CFR Trade Show is bigger and bolder than the last.
