There is one thing that represents October more than anything else and that is the pumpkin. Why not celebrate throughout the month by dropping in to the Chronicles Comic & Cafe downtown for a pumpkin spice latte or one of their delicious house made pumpkin desserts! If you’re hungry and need warming up, a savoury pumpkin soup is always a tasty treat and one of our many restaurants like Jamie’s Riverview Cafe just may have it on the menu.
You can also pick your own pumpkin at The Jungle Farm and take it home for a night of carving that perfect Jack-O-Lantern or head down to Heritage Ranch for a Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt. Whatever your taste, there is always room for pumpkin and if pumpkin pie is your only vice — try picking it up at one of our local bakeries like The Tasty Bakery, your family will thank you for it!
Come on out for the thrill of exploring their maze during the new moon! This will be the last maze opportunity of 2018 and it will be extra dark, so bring your flashlights and bundle up! Open from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
October 12th + 13th, 19th + 20th, 26th + 27th
Every Friday and Saturday night at dusk, come on down to Heritage Ranch and join in the fun to hunt for the best pumpkin to take home. There will be an evening tractor wagon ride down to their secret pumpkin patch, along with hot chocolate and glow sticks — don’t forget your flashlight, it will get dark! If it’s too dark for you, they also have the Daytime Pumpkins Hunt where you will be able to access the secret pumpkin patch by horse-drawn carriage. The daytime event only runs on Saturday afternoons so book early. To book, contact Heritage Ranch at 403-347-4977 or go to their website.
Come join us at Bower Ponds for the last race of the season, and a chance to get back out on those trails hopefully before the snow flies. This affordable Halloween themed Half Marathon and 5K/10k is great for all ages and will not only get you pumped for the holiday but also support The Mustard Seed.
October 27th + 28th
Love the pumpkin carving but hate the mess? Why not leave that all behind and come out to The Jungle Farm where they take pumpkin carving to a whole new extreme. They provide the power tools, pumpkins, and patterns so you can concentrate on just having a good time. This is a great Halloween family event and afterwards you can enjoy the last weekend of the season while they clean up the mess.
Ghosts, witches, pirates, and all monsters in between, consider yourself invited to get spooky with the Town of Sylvan Lake! Enjoy an afternoon of games, crafts, and candy! It’s a free family event so come on down and have a little fun.
Come on down for a little Halloween fun at the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Costumes are optional; however, treats, games and more will be a part of the day. The cost is $10 per family and the smiles are free, so we hope to see you there!
