Get into the Halloween Spirit Early!

Pumpkins, costumes, trick or treats, spooky activities and ghostly stories. Here are some great things you can do to kick off all things Halloween! As well as a few other activities for the faint of heart.

Kerry Wood Nature Centre is putting on a Halloween themed mini day camp from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Friday, October 23, with hands-on nature exploration, games, crafts and more. Don’t forget to book early as space is limited.

Dare to be scared at The Danish Canadian Museum’s Haunted Forest, back this Halloween, October 23 – 25; walk-ins are welcome as it will be outside for comfortable social distancing. Check out their Facebook page for details and try not to be scared, to death that is.

Strange & Unusual Things Art Exhibition at the A+ Art Gallery. The Opening Reception runs from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. This is a free event, and the exhibition will continue until October 30. Gallery times are noon – 5:00 pm, Tuesday to Saturday. The Velvet Olive will be also be hosting Nature’s Bounty by Lynn LeCorre from 6:00 – 8:00 pm; stop by and witness the beauty of vegetables in a new light.

A Spooktacular Season in Sylvan Lake, the community has been celebrating Halloween the entire month of October! With a little over a week left of the month, there are plenty of Spooktacular events to check out. Visit the Pumpkin House at Lions Park, find delicious fall foods during their Fall Foods Tour, participate in their Pumpkin Carving Contest or shop Curiosities Shoppes of Centennial Street to purchase unique items or even have your tarot cards read!

Enjoy Oktoberfest, an evening all about friends, food and craft beer, this Friday at Heritage Ranch. With 2 seatings available at 5 – 7:00 pm or 7 – 9:00 pm, enjoy a Bratwurst Dinner and Craft Beer Tasting. Reserve for you and your pals soon, as spots are limited. Make an evening of it at Heritage Ranch and book a private Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt to follow your Oktoberfest activities. Friday is the last chance to take in this experience so be sure to act quickly.

Create your very own Succulent Pumpkin Centerpiece, this weekend at Blue Grass Garden Centre. Workshops run both Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am – noon and 2 – 4:00 pm. Additional event details and booking information can be found HERE.

Always a great weekend for live music in Red Deer, this weekend you will find many acts take on many stages throughout the city, be sure to check out venue calendars for additional stage acts.

Mutant Man at the Velvet Olive, Friday, October 23rd for an evening of live music. Even though this is not a Halloween event, the band name certainly gives a slight nod to the occasion. Enjoy live music in a safe and compliant manner. No reservations are accepted, first come first serve seating.

Local artist Kayla Williams steals the stage at Bo’s Bar & Stage Friday night, unveiling her single and video for Stealing from my Youth. Doors open at 6:00 pm, show 8:00 pm, tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door, tables of 4 or 6 people are required.

Friday and Saturday night you can find your groove at One Eleven Grill as Nathan Samuelson – Jazz duo offers up smooth jazz from 6:30 – 10:30 pm. Add in the restaurant’s cool atmosphere and sensational menu and you have yourself a full evening experience.

Saturday night, Leah’s Bar & Grill presents, Curtis Labelle with his band, for the one year anniversary of Pawn in my Shade LIVE show! Rock all night long with this Top 40 artist in Canada’s National competition The SHOT season 8.
