It's May long weekend and time for us to explore the fun things we can do here in #RedDeersBackyard.

For you bird lovers, Ellis Bird Farm is opening Victoria Day Monday, May 24, stroll the trails, take in the world’s largest outdoor collection of bluebird boxes or take a tour out to their bluebird trail.

Camping is always top of mind on May long weekend. We are sure you already have your spot booked at places like Discovery Wildlife Park Campground, Trenville Park or maybe Westerner Campground. If not why not give Ram Rides (South Ram Outfitters) north of Rocky Mountain House a shout they still have campsites available.

The Outdoor Market at Red Deer next to the Servus Arena is officially open this Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. See what vendors are there and enjoy the outdoor shopping, you never know what treasures you may find. Remember all Covid-19 rules apply and they ask that people adhere to the 6-foot distancing rule and to wear masks.

Hit the trails, whether on foot or wheels and seek out some wildlife. There are plenty of baby geese scurrying about, so just remember to give them their space.

Order some takeout from one of our many restaurants here in Red Deer like Las Palmeras and go for a picnic. Check out one of the City of Red Deer’s lovely parks, or on the grounds of Fort Normandeau.
