Red Deer offers 77 outdoor skating rinks for public use, and they are now open. It is an excellent weekend for skating; however, don’t forget only ten people per community outdoor rink except for Bower Ponds, Anders on the Lake and Westlake Pond. There is more space for physical distancing at these ponds. The 400m Ice Speed Skating Oval at Setters Place is also open but must be booked ahead of time by going to Look ‘N Book. Check out the City of Red Deer’s website for more information.

Come down to Heritage Ranch this weekend for a private horse-drawn sleigh ride through the winter lights complete with a warm beverage, so much fun. They still have spots left this Friday and Saturday night if you want to combine it with a 5-course dining experience, a bottle of wine, truffles and a long-stemmed rose, the perfect date night.

The CP Holiday Train is going virtual this  Saturday at 6:00 pm. CP Holiday Train Fans will be able to view the concert by visiting facebook.com/canadian.pacific at the show’s start time. If you haven’t had a chance yet, now is the time to head downtown this weekend to check out the Storefront Outdoor Art Gallery and Scavenger Hunt happening till December 14. Paintings, glass and ceramic works for purchase will be displayed in storefront windows, and the scavenger hunt maps can be printed from the Red Deer Arts Councils website.

Grab your skis or snowboard and head out to Canyon Ski Hill this weekend, a fun way to enjoy the great outdoors.
