Sawback represents the origin of the Red Deer River, the city’s water source. Every brewery needs water, and every river has a story. The Red Deer River’s story begins in the Canadian Rockies on the Sawback mountain range. This is the origin of the water and the foundation of the beer.
A taproom-focused brewery specializing in small-batch craft beer. From Light to Dark, Sour to Wild, the brewery explores all things craft. This is made possible by local Alberta farmers who supply some of the world’s best barley, grown right in the backyard.
What started as a crazy idea in a garage with friends grew into a full-fledged business through passion, motivation, and hard work. The team continues to hold the brewery to a higher standard, experimenting and learning every day. It’s quite the process, but it is the journey—and nothing about it would be changed. The beer is a product of bold ideas and plenty of love, crafted to be enjoyed by all.
