We are excited to invite you to our free upcoming event to commemorate World Refugee Day that will be held on June 22nd, 2019.
Let’s join together to celebrate, welcome and meet some of the people who came here under refugee status, who are living in our community.
It will take place at Pioneer Hall in the lower level of Gaetz United Church, 4758 50th Street, from 4 pm – 7 pm.
We will have two speakers who will share their challenges, opportunities and successes in Red Deer. We also have a line-up of wonderful entertainers for you to enjoy: lute player Hassan Tahir from Iraq, accordion and keyboard player Hmayak Mikayelyan from Armenia, and the amazing, talented Cameroon Dancers. Feast on ethnic food made by community members from Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Syria.
Everyone is welcome, all cultures and faiths. For families we will provide a separate room for child care and children’s activities.
Co- hosted by the Immigrant Centre, Central Alberta Immigrant Women’s Association, the Local Immigration Partnership, the Downtown Red Deer Business Association and Government of Canada.
