Though we cannot gather together in City Hall Park as in previous years, the tradition of lighting up the night as a community will continue in Red Deer. Help us light the night by turning on your home and business Christmas lights in unison at 5 p.m. Saturday, November 21. We'd love to see photos of your light display! Share your pics and videos to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with #rdlights. A video showcasing the lights of City Hall Park and the Christmas Holiday Tree will be shared on The City's website and social media pages so you can enjoy the view from the comfort of your own home. There will not be a live lighting ceremony in City Hall Park this year but the Christmas lights will turn on from sunset to sunrise throughout the season. If you choose to visit the Park in person, please follow all public health orders and respect physical distancing. There are many other ways to celebrate the holiday season this year, including artisan markets hosted by the Downtown Business Association and Red Deer Arts Council, local shopping and dining opportunities, downtown lights and window art, and Ross Street Patio programming. Stay tuned for details on the Stantec Santa Bus, touring neighbourhoods December 5 & 12! More information on these activities will be posted to The City’s website, www.reddeer.ca/rdlights.
